I've rec'd Nokia N95 8Gb

Just read this on another forum.

SPEED UP YOUR PHONE UP TO 40%!!

First go to ** To-do List.
Make a note and input as follows
Subject: Speed
Due Date: 29-01-2005(dd-mm-yy)
Priority: set to High
then press Done

Go to option again and make a second note and input as follows:

Subject: Qoukie
Due Date: 29-01-2005(dd-mm-yy)
Priority: set to Low
then press Done

Do not exit yet. Highlight the Speed note, select Options and Mark as done.
Then highlight the Qoukie note, select Options and Mark as done.
Now, reboot your mobile.

I am going to try this on my friends original N95 to see if it works.

My bro got the phone via shop, apparently it's been rolled out to all the shops as of today. Will keep you updated on the battery.

Boot time 15-20 seconds.

Built is spot on. Keys have a very good tactile feedback. My bro got it on the staff line, all the shops should have it from today onwards.

Phone is the same size as the original, although as the camera is not sticking out it feels slimmer.

I haven't tried the battery on the original as of yet.
By "shop" do you mean Vodafone retail outlets?

I'm desperate to get my hands on this phone - I'm sick of my Eten :(

All about the battery on this IMO, if it's good I think I'll jump - it's that or the N81 and this is winning due to the fact it's got a bigger screen and wifi (well the 5mp camera and 8gb memory does help a little) :)

Vodafone rep just popped into the office, I asked him "how much for the N95 8GB on upgrade" and he laughed at me (I'm not on a heavy usage contract at work).

Any sign of any sim free models in stock anywhere I wonder?

I really can't afford to buy myself out of my Orange contract. Not when I have 12 months left @ £35 a month.

Can you confirm this as everything I've seen so far points to £150 @ £40 pm and free on £50 pm?

Unfortunately I can't confirm but at the uxbridge retail store they were prepared to give this phone on contracts worth £40 or more (18-24 mths term though).

A SIM Free model is going to be at least £400 though, which is approaching your contract buyout amount.

Do Vodafone not wish to sell phones? They refuse to give me the phone number for my local Vodafone Retail outlet becuase 'People kept ringing them'.

It's now company policy not to allow members of public to telephone the store.

I've never encountered anything more bizarre on my entire life.

Just tried to call Vodafone about an upgrade enquiry, first bloke told me they had 389 of them in stock and needed to pass me over to a colleague to continue.

The next bloke (sarky goit that he was) told me they weren't out until Monday. .

Called a mate who works on the retail side, and he said they were going to be charging top tier contract holders a minimum of £75 even at upgrade - so much conflicting info!

I think I might wait for the N81 tbh.

Is it the Plymouth store you want the number for? I found a number for Vodafone retail on Cornwall St, Devonport, Plymouth if that's any use.
