Hi, this is my first overclock. I'm overclocking my graphics card and I wanted advice on my temps.
Before I opened atitool 3d view:
72C
325/700

After:
77C
325/700

Is this ok? them seem a bit high i think, but im not sure.

I added extra fans in my case but i think i may need to tidy my cables up to allow better air flow. Opinions?

seem's v hot @ idle tbh mate, load not so much so

remove card. remove hsf, clean out any trapped dust. apply a good tim to the core then retry ( obviously re attaching said hsf first lolz )

Thats pretty hot. If you want to overclock your card your better using Rivatuner :) You may be lucky enough to unlock some of the extra shaders and vertex's.

What version of the card do you have as the leadtek's came with lovely copper heatsinks, front and back.

Those temps seem a little high to me, but not out of the ordinary I guess. What you need to do is get a large fan (80mm - 92mm) and cable tie it on the card. You don't have to run it fast, but it should drop your temps by AT LEAST 10 degrees C, if not more like 15 degress C :)

Also, download Nvbitor if your feeling brave (to read, modify, then rewrite the bios), and put the voltage on the card upto 1.4v. It should allow you to take the card upto about 400 on the core or maybe a little more (upto 425). The memory should go upto at least 800mhz as standard with no mods, or even up as far as 875mhz with no mods. My cards memory gets flakey around 900mhz but I haven't tried pushing it any further as yet. When I get a new card I may have a laugh with the card and try and max it out :)

If you enable shaders/vertex's be aware you 'may' have some problems starting windows again, so just use the safe mode if it becomes unstable. Just disable rivatuner and disable the shader you enabled (lots of help online on how to use rivatuner :) ) and then try another :) .

Enabling additional shaders 'may' mean that you can't clock the card as high as you would without them enabled, but in most games the extra ones REALLY help out performance. I would really look into enabling them.

Lastly, I did find that overclocked in 3d mode sometimes my card likes to buzz. Seems to be no real reason for it as it's not pushing it that far. My temps o/c'd when on load hover around 55 - 59C.

I have the Leadtek 6800LE, all pipes unlocked and it sits at 50 on idle-always has.
With those clocks mine would barely hit 60 under load, it's never gone past 65 under load and thats with clocks of 400/800.
Temps do start to creep up if I dont keep the fan grill dusted.

Vinny> Remove the fan grill, strap a fan to it blowing in (Keep the cowling on) and you will find that you quieten down the card and reduce temps :) It gets quieter because you can turn the small fan down to 25% with no negative effect, thanks to the 92mm slow amber fan strapped on. I have it on 100% when gaming though lol.

With this setup you can overclock the nuts out of it. Well done on full unlock, mine can only do 12/5 else I get black triangles, and the other one will stop windows from booting up :( ).

I can run mine with 1.4volts on the core at 425/900.

Matthew, I was really lucky with that card, turned out to be the 3rd 6800 I bought that year.

1st purchase was an Asus (from here) that had 256mb of memory and was almost identical to the Ultra's board 'cept about 140 quid cheaper. It came with 4 locked pipes that I hoped I'd be unlocking, but sadly not a one would. Was a very good overclocker tho, right up until the day I removed an IDE ribbon from the mobo and heard the delicate sound of capacitors hitting the bottom of the case.

So, needed a cheap card to see me thru until i got mine repaired, heard lotsa good stuff about the Leadtek LE, loads were unlocking and I bought one.
Tremendous card for the price and really well made. Unfortunately there was no unlocking this one either.

6800 #3 was bought cos the card died on our 2nd PC, grabbed another Leadtek LE and finally got lucky. All pipes unlocked and it clocked really well too. Makes a mockery of the Asus I bought originally and did very well in 3dmark, back when mobile Athlons were king.

Well you will be happy no know then that the demo of CoD4 runs pretty sweet on it with only 12/5 on an old amd64 system. (my friends who I have lent the card to).

There is a fair bit of potential in the card, even though it's old.

That doesn't surprise me at all, it's a solid performer that has lasted me really well.

Y'know, peeps often say there's no future-proofing with the speed of technology nowadays but, I'm running a 3 year old gfx card, an NF7 board (even older) and a XP-M [email protected] GHz.
Ok, so I am upgrading ATM but it's not because the ole girl's too slow, she just needs a rest.
My sons will make good use of her for a couple of years yet too I expect.

I just hope my next buys are as good.
