mk2 Mondeo Coilovers.....do they exist?

unusual, coil overs with sensible spring rates

Compared to what?

There Mcpherson struts so you get the spring rate at the wheel unlike a typical double wishbone setup where you have a motion ratio affecting the effective wheel spring rate.

36 point adjustment on a K sport isnt really much of a range tbh. I you can find the shock dynos on theses you only really see a significant difference between full and minimum rebound damping.

I'd be more inclined to consider them as 6 way adjustable at best.

"Please note that prices are per individual shock absorber and they should always be fitted in pairs. If the part number has 'L' or 'R' after the number then the shock absorbers are 'handed' and you need to purchase one for each side."

so over £500 then :(

I was chatting to tom earlier and asked him why are coil overs better. He doesn't know and after some googling it appears that nobody does and some people even say they are worse than normal springs or dampers.

They look as if they do the same job to me, and in almost the same manner?

So, what makes them better...or worse!?

Spring rates and damping tend to be more track focused rather than B road compliant. Couple that to most the top spec fixed damper and spring cost similar to your taiwanese cheapo coilovers with poor valving then its no wonder some people will find them worse, particularly those using them on typical UK roads. To stiff so tyres skip reducing traction and can be more crashy due to rebound damping being poor.

Of course they look like they do the same job, they do and whilst doing so between the same mondeo suspension turret and wheel upright as anything else would.

a lot of these coilovers restrict suspension droop so can reduce traction coming out of tight corners.

Can you get Tokico dampers for the Mondeo? I'd have no issues generically recommending those, KYB or Koni units, difficult to go wrong with those

Thanks for that, so if you're not using them on a track it will actually reduce the performance of the car, traction and comfort?

Also, what are the benefits for track use over a decent shock and spring setup?
