I am in two minds about this. I bought the Samsung LE32R73BD LCD TV last November from Dixons. I didn't take out any extra warranty. Today I recieved a letter asking if I would like to take out a 4yr Coverplan as the manufacturers warranty runs out next month.

I am in two minds as to whether I want to take this. The TV is the main living room TV and I know LCD TV's are expensive to repair or replace which makes me want to take the 4yr warranty on the other hand the 4yr warranty is £199.00, I just don't know if it's worth it.

What do you guys think?

I wouldnt, if the tv breaks after a year your allowed to challenge the fact that it should last a reasonable amount of time.

If all else fails you could buy a Hanspree one for £299 for a 720p 32"

:D

£199 is too much for a small set. You can challenge under the SOG 6 year thing but i wouldnt expect LCD's to have a very long expected life.

You could buy a warranty cheaper if you really want one, or even claim on house insurance etc

Wouldnt touch that sort of warrenty with a barge pole.

Utterly pointless imo, all they are after is you £200 knowing its a safe bet nothing will happen. If nothing has gone wrong with it in 12 months then you can pretty much bet it will last another 3 years. Plus if it does go after 12 months Samsung will probably replace it anyway.

Dont bother.
