Some of you may remember my thread from a while ago. well i went for the ka as i always said i would. Got her yesterday but cant do anything with her because i need to go get some tax. (anyone have any infor for me on this i'd be greatful)
shes a 2000. mileage was a bit higher than i wanted to go for. Completely HPI clear. 1 lady owner from new. great condition.
Paid £1700 for her

i know its not the kind of car you guys get excited about, but i am really chuffed with it!

You can't be too picky about a first car, just what you pay for it really.

As for tax. Take your insurance certificate, MOT and V5 to the Post Office and they will hook you up.

Good first car, if u have one of those new electronic MOT certificates you can get car tax online. http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/Ev...ng&portletns=Relicensing_en&wfevent=link.next

yeh had a look at that. i may do that but the car didnt come with tax so im not sure i can do it on there. think i have to fill in a v10 (?) and go post office. and i cant do that because my insurance documents havn't come through yet and the confirmation email was sent to the boyfriends email because they wouldnt let me use mine (god knows why)

Looks nice excellent 1st car for a girl ;)

Whats the milage? them 1.3s are pretty much bullet proof

64000. was looking for something for around 50000 but i couldnt turn it down really runs and sounds great!

edit: definately have to go post office as im not the registered keeper yet. im so nervous having it sat there with no tax! do they email a copy of the cover note or do i have to wait for it to come in the post?

64000 for a 2000 is actually quite low mileage to be fair :) Absolutely nothing to worry about with that engine and them miles, hell my dad still has a 1.2 N reg clio that has clocked up over 120k hard miles and still chugs along, and that's french! :D

1 owner from new... Bet it's in good condition and at least you know it has been well looked after too!

With regards to TAX you need Insurance, V5 (did the lady give you the little slip off of the V5/Owner Document?) and MOT certificate.

Your insurers may be able to fax over a copy of the insurance but I am not sure if the Post Office will accept this.

Coming to the rolling road meet? ;)

yeh i have everything but my insurance cover note. i presume its coming in the post tomorrow. I guess im just going to have to sit in the car on the driveway and pretend to drive it. it could do with a bit of a wash.

I am pretty sure everyone does this but nobody admits it.

Great for a first car, cheap to buy insure and run and can be a lot of fun on the back roads. The wheel at each corner handling of these is remenicent of the origional mini and they aren't unbearable on the motorway. enjoy.

hmm the guy i bought my car off told me i did :(

Well he lied, and if you drove it on a public road without tax, then you have broken the law, and if you'd have been caught, you could have faced a large fine.

But as you didn't, you're OK, but it's still not correct.

i would rather mine be taxed anyway! im not one for taking risks. the boyfriend drove it home as i wasnt available he said he was really impressed with it on the motorway. luckily he had a mate with him who kept diving behind or infront of him when police were near by in case they read the numberplate.
