Unfortunately we're a day late... this boo-boo happened yesterday when ASDA labelled their 20x330ml pack of Heineken for £0.10p rather than (presumably) £10 on their website.

Now I'm sure a shed load of people have ordered this.

Ordering 24 of them would cost £2.40... ASDA have now said everyone will be charged the full price, so 24 would now cost £240.

Can they legally change the price of something after somebody has purchased it for the price advertised?

Surely if you buy something that is advertised as 10p and they want to charge you £10 that must break some law!?

I believe OcUK has a system that if something gets added on to their website without a price or a stupidly cheap price it gets defaulted to £12,345.67 - surely a huge company like ASDA would have the same system.

Yup - they can withdraw the sale at anythime - they cannot just take another £240 from your account they have to get the permission on the account holder, so a pop-up will appear when they next logon or the transaction and stock will be froze till the sale times out or is cancled.

IF the money for £2.40 had left you account before telling you of the mistake then no. Otherwise yes, they can change the price if theres a misprint if a reasonable person would expect it to be incorrect. Argos did this with tvs(?) a few years back.

Loads of people at my office tried to order these.

Then they read the fine print which says the web price is only a guide and you'll be charged the full amount from the local shop when it gets delivered.

Ah I see, so there is a clause in it... fair enough then.

I'm pretty sure you pay the store price on delivery and that the online prices are just a guide.

EDIT: Beaten.
