Whos ditching 8800 for new rev?

A 3.8GHz Q6600 is an absolute beast, let alone 4GHz. What cooling are you running easyrider, and what was your previous highest Q6600 clock with the P35 chipset?

Also I'm surprised that you managed to go from an Abit IP35 Pro to an X38 Gigabyte for only £30 - details?

Ill wait and see I cant sell my little gts just yet its the best overclocking one Ive seen so unless Im gona grab a bigger monitor (Im thinking about it) then no point in jumping ship anytime soon!

Why are you going around randomly posting this on multiple threads? This tells us nothing we didn't know. The issue is this: some boards are PCI-E 1.0, some are PCI-E 1.1 - the latter will be compatible with PCI-E 2.0 boards, the former will not necessarily. The issue is people finding out which boards are 1.1 and which are 1.0.

No need to be so rude, I posted it on the two threads where this topic was being questioned.

And from all the posts I've read it wasn't 'cut and dried'

Some people need to simmer down.

What makes you think that PCI-E 1.0 boards aren't compatible with PCI-E 2.0 gfx cards? :confused:

I was confused at your attitude to redline.. he was posting more information about all the PCI-E motherboards being compatible.

If it was the case that POV thought PCI-E v1 were not compatible then surely they would have replied to redline that there may be some compatibility issues with v1.

Thank you, and just to clarify I asked whether they are compatible with both 1.0 and 1.1.

Which reassures me as I have a 1.0.

NP :)

PC gamers tend to upgrade graphics cards far more often than motherboards. With the 8800gt being a competitively priced card aimed at midend (whom are far more likely to have v1) it suggests to me that nvidia alienating this segment of the market makes no sense and therefore the card would be compatible for all :D

Now if it was rumored that only the revised 8800ultra would be v1.1/v2 compatible then I would be on the fence on the issue; seeing as the card is aimed at enthusiasts (who more than likely have a rig complete with the very latest components).

Im running Apex ultra water:)

I couldn't nail 3.8ghz on the P35 pro for some reason as it was a superb mobo.Just fancied a change

Sold the P35 for 118 and bagged a X38 for 148:)
 
Anyone think it's rather 'convenient' that the Crysis single player demo is turning up this weekend. Just enough time for people to decide they need a new graphics card...
