38ghzQuadev.jpg
:D

10 hrs prime stable at 3.8ghz. :D

Will push for 4ghz tonight.

SIG Ammended.

Mmm, using over 1.6v to get the CPU up to 3.8 is a lot of juice for it 24/7, hate to see what it needs for 4Ggz.

Just for info, I got a reply from Asus regarding my P5b.

Dear Friend :

Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.

My name is ZYC, and I would be assisting you today.

The PCI-E 16x on P5B is 1.1,
so you can use future PCI-E 2.0 video card on P5B board.

Thank you for using ASUS products and services!

Just need to wait for a few 100% genuine benchies now, to make sure the card is all it's cracked up to be, and I'll finally get to upgrade from my 7900GTO (and if it isn't all that great, then wait a little longer to see what the new GTS can do) ;)

V1N.

It doesn't need over 1.6v for 3.8ghz.

Read my post in the Q6600 overclocking thread.

I had to take the mobo out of the equation.

Temps are fine and I will back down the vcore as necessary.

Well my 320Mb GTS is now sold and my PC is now crying out for an 8800GT. My poor old 6200 Turbocache backup card would die a death if i fired up crysis demo :p

Well your lucky. My 9500 pro 128Mb backup card is AGP and I haven't got an AGP socket anymore so come Monday I will have no gfx card:(

The new 8800GTS? probs around £200?

No I can see them being a little more to be honest. Top end pre oc 8800 GT cards from EVGA and BFG are going to be around £180 so nobody will buy them if you can get the GTS for another £20 which has more ROPs, memory and full memory bandwidth and will probably match a GTX in performance.

I would expect them to be the same money as the 8800 GTS 640Mb are now.

My backup card is pci luckly on the other hand its over 10 years old, has no 3D and only 1mb of dram which means 640x480 is the highest res possible but it does play all videos perfectly ok, it was advanced in its day :p :)

Just as well because it cost me about the same as a x1950pro does now

Will you be able to run 2 8800GT or 2 of the new 800GTS in sli on a Asus P5N32-E SLi nForce 680 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard ?

As far as I know 680i is 1.1. The upcoming 780i is 2.0.

This could push SLI into the mainsteam if the cards perform as well as expected and cost around the £140 mark. SLI would be cheaper than a GTX and 3-way SLI could work out at no more than an Ultra and could potentially outperform it....interesting times indeed.

May i ask? Is the P5B a superior board to the P5NSLI, assuming so, i'm worried!
