OcUK Forums Changes

A few new Avatars.
The removal (or lowering) of the search time limit, tis a pain when you mistype something.
A new logo, as someone said it does look a bit pants :p
Being able to delete your own posts/threads
Oh and a bigger selection of smilies

after reading the ps3/x360 posts my conclusion is that rather then splitting the 2, have a better moderation of the place.

As people have clearly said it get annoying when someone asks about ps3 and gets should have got 360, if the op then feels these posts are un-needed and fanboy can't they then report the post so it gets removed. that way the problem gets solved rather then slightly decreased as tbh even with a split forum doesn't mean 360 can't be mentioned in ps3 part and im sure it would be.

btw i don't have either consoles, had a wii but sold it.

when the ps3 came out i remember only seeing ps3 theads, now the hype has died down and halo 3 has just been released of course mostly it;s going to be 360 threads. Its like on 9/11/2001 complaining that only twin towers news was being shown

Yeah, same here, but I don't think it will happen, they've only recently upped the time limit between searches iirc... meh

why can't people search more then once in a short amount of time? surely the amount of people that search twice are very small and the search wait time wont stop them so nothing being gained there, and then the only other people that search twice are people who put typos, again the wait time woudln't stop them i would have thought?

I would remove post counts and replace with some sort of reputation system NOT related to posts or you get people like El Raz posting tedious ******* to increase their count

seen this started on many other forums and watched them go down hill !
You post for example may be rated as disagree which would be a negative !
Causes lots of childish behavouir ,would be a shame as this seems like a nice friendly forum :)

I would like some new forum themes, after all, the main overclockers site has been updated with a new look, why not have some different looks for the forums too so users dont have to use a custom .css to edit the theme (which sometimes causes problems).

I'm pretty sure it's to stop robots, not people.

I still think the Multiquote feature should be implimented. Please upgrade.

Another forum I frequent has just implemented it. It's so, so very handy.

example

Only place i think needs any change is the MM
Like a seperate application form to gain entry to the MM , whereas the applicants forum history would be looked at manually by someone.. rather than them just gaining access automaticly once they reach X ammount of posts.

but surely this would mean that ocuk would be responsible for if you did get conned as they let that person on the mm?

This is how it works already.

Is there any possibility of getting a private messaging system going, or was this eliminated for a specific reason?

It's a bad idea, you get people leaving you negative feedback just because they don't agree with something you say.

I do not believe that having more restrictions on entering the MM is benefical. I would like to enter the members market, but cannot due to post count restrictions, although I have been here over 3 years. Post count restrictions just adds to the temptation for members to constantly most useless posts.

Seeing as the forums recently had a bit of a cosmetic update, I couldn't help notice the buttons stayed the same. The icons are fairly modern but the buttons are quite old fashioned and blocky in my opinion.

What about a subtle update to a slightly more modern style?
