I bought some Cheddar the other day from either Tesco or Sainsbury's, it was from a place in Devon. It's called Ticklers Cheddar, and its made by The Real Cheese Company.

Anyway, it's bloody amazing stuff, the best mature cheddar I've tasted. Go forth, buy some!

You want some good sauce to go with it? Try the 'Chairman's Hot & Nutty' sauce from here :-

Quite possibly the best sauce for cheese I've ever tasted. I picked up a few bottles from a County Fayre, and after falling in love with it was pleasantly surprised to see that they're quite local to me and have an on-line ordering/delivery system in place.

You put sauce on your cheese? Or is this a similar thing to branston in a cheese sandwich?

Although i doo like my cheese so might look out for this when i got to tescos next. Cheers for the heads up :)

Did you visit Wookie Hole?

I remember going there as a kid.

Nope, we didn't really get time, we were caving which I was a bit unsure about at first but it's in fact a great experience, Cheddar Gorge itself is a beautiful village too:)

Went to Cheddar Gorge a few years back and was very disappointed with the quality of the cheese. Cheddar made in Cheddar had nothing going for it other than novelty value.

The Cave and Natural Blue cheddar are lovely and easily as good as most supermarket brands, most of the natural flavoured ones are awesome too.
I tried Yarg for the first time too and was pleasantly surpried:)
