can anyone recomend a crossfire motherboard for an pentium 4 3.6 775 socket,915 chipset? for around GBP70-120

If your willing to spend that much on a mobo you'd be better off getting a cheap C2D chip and mobo

was told newer 775 boards dont support my chip so would have to stick with what i was using (915)

but would like to get a board i can upgrade to quad core when i have the money

Who told you that? Most newer boards will run any PIV based S775 cpu.

thats what i thought but my local pc shop told me no , so the asus p5k i want will b fine?

yup would run it just fine, local PC obviously dont know what they're on about or are pulling your leg.

I would reccomed you get the Asus P5K vanilla, if you spend any more you may as well upgrade your platform to C2D

thnks 4 the help do they sell the vanilla here (using phone here and search doernt work) i have been looking at the c2d quad would the mobo support either as couldnt afford both this month

to give you an idea this is the CPU support list for abit's IP35 which uses the same chipset as the P5K

Asus P5K can be found on OcUK

Definitely get a P35 based chipset

Try not to get a cheaper 650i based chipset or the older 965. The P5K or the IP35 (not the -E edition or the Pro) can be had for around 60 and both are cracking motherboards.
