Total cost of Uni over these days?

This is one of the reasons why i choose not to go Uni. The costs.
Far too expensive for what i'd get out of it, imo.
:)
Each to their own i suppose though. :)

But these costs people are posting include all living costs. If you worked you would have the same living costs, if not more because of council tax etc.

The actual cost of university per year in England is 3000, in scotland it is free.

you pay back your tuition fees later. Everyone up here somehow thinks they dont. But you do. maybe not all of it. but proabably about 90% of it.

No, you have to pay back a graduation tax, which is around 2000.
If you jump ship and go abraod they don't seem to bother you much anyway;)

So how much approximately does it cost to do a 3/4 year course at university these days then.

Im going to do a 4 year course at hertfordshire with a year in industry on salary.

im assuming that rent is £70 x 42 weeks = ~£3000 a year for 3 years

Course is £3000 a year aswell for 3 (or four cause of placement?) years

living costs at £100? a week x 42 = £4200

£30,600 Does that sound right?

And the rest - additional costs i am missing?

How does that compare with others?

Do you mean you're entering university of hertfordshire? If you are, we will meet there then. :D

£30 a week on food, that's all I buy. No travel expenses, I walk everywhere. I don't drink so I don't go out 'on the ****' or whatever you want to call it.
Wow. No going cinema with friends, going to restaurants etc.? I don't go out on the **** either but £30 can go in two days, if not one!

My debt at the end of uni will be

3 x £3,200 minimum loan
2 x £1,175 tuition fee loan

So about £11,950. Not too much really compared to some peoples.

Is a there a big difference in uni costs in the US?

I'm not sure on the actual costs, but i think students from over-seas get grants and burseries, but their university system works completely different to ours, didnt really make any sense to me when i was looking on their websites to see how to apply for a masters or phd.

Ahh right, thanks. I've really got my mind set on uni over there.

Err...at uni at the moment im probably spending £10 a week on food ? (woo go value brand) and £30-40 a week going out, a lot less depending how many girls i can blagg a drink out of.

But id say £100 is a little steep. Still, £3050 tuition , £2100 on accomodation racks up to ~ £15k after 3 years (which i wont have spent all of).

Having said that, freshers fortnight set me back £350.

I'm at a London university;

£3070 tuition fees
£5000 something loan
£2750 grant
£500 bursary.

My accommodation is £2900 for the year and that's the cheapest, most expensive here is £4500!

A lot of money but a lot of debt. My weekly spend has varied a lot, it's very easy to just live off cereal tbh, saves a lot of money. Not drinking copious amounts will save you so much, as, when you're sober that temptation to order pizza or a takeaway will be greatly reduced. I find impulse buying of pizza has hurt my wallet the most!
