hey guys,

having a disasterious time with my focus ive been thinkin of a new hyundai coupe 1.6, i no small engine but its all i can afford with insurance! so just a quickie to see what u guys think about this car.

Thanks guys.

whats wrong with the focus?

core plugs went (my fault)
ball joint totally died so had to replace joint, bottom pinch bolt, and hub
electic module died so needed that replaced
1st day had her got hit in the ass by a Ford Galaxy, then an Audi and a BMW (not all same day though)

all in all bad carma, had enough

the coupe your thinking about is horrible imo. Get a leon, astra or a golf but not a Hyundai.

Or keep the focus untill you can get insured on something nicer.

great looking car imo, don't buy it with a pathetic 1.6 though, it is slow, sheep in wolfs clothing, you will be a laughing stock.

AVOID!

Please. Even though it looks OK (well the one before the SIII did), it doesn't really go OK. That 1.6 is going to be slooooow. Buy (almost) anything else.

It does appear though that next year Hyundai may be launching a RWD coupe, with a possible 300bhp. Looks and sounds promising, but I can't help but think it'll fail to impress like the current model. It's a shame really.

RWD eh, will be interesting to find more info about that.

The 2.7 is the only one i'd ever have considered, I hear it's a bit heavy up-front and the 2.0 is more agile, but look at the thing, the only possible redeeming feature (in my opinion) that you can boast about is the slightly large engine size. "Yeah i've got a 2.7 V6" (or whatever it is) and even that is/was only 160 odd bhp!

I agree with the 1.6, I wish they wouldn't put it in the thing, although it does make for even more hilarity when going past them. Anyway my cat is faster to 60 than one of those things, and cats can't even get to 60! And I don't even have a cat!

Nice looking cars but personally I would avoid them. They're slow and quite heavy - as Griffo pointed out, even the 2.7l V6 only outputs 160bhp and is pretty slow.

Why replace the hub if you have a failed balljoint?

I don't understand how you have the money to buy a new (ugly) coupe (even if its a 1.6), but are limiting yourself to a 1.6 to save a few £ on the insurance?

Get a cheaper, faster, better car and pay a little more on the insurance?

Yep even a astra coupe 2.2 would be nicer, faster and possibly not much dearer to insure than that. You'll still get the coupe looks, and imo a nicer interior.

And the 2.2 has some really cheap tuning options to take you to 175+bhp.
