Whos ditching 8800 for new rev?

The new GTX will be a big jump in performance if its gonna have the same performance gap with the new GTS as the old GTS-GTX gap was.

Well I certainly won't be switching to a GT, or even a revised GTX. I like a noticable jump in performance when I upgrade, so it'll be next-gen for me. :)

the new revision of the GTX could be a noticeable jump tbh, look at the current GT's, going on the posted bench marks they already practically match the GTX, so the new revision gts should be at least 10-15% faster or maybe more to make it a viable upgrade over the GT, and then the new GTX will be even faster still, compare that to the current gen GTX's and I think there will be a bigger jump than I first anticipated, if these GT's keep their price by the time the new GTX's are out I can see current GTX's not being worth more than £80-£100 tbh, where as right now if you sell your currunt gen GTX on the bay they are still fetching over £250, it's a hard decision.

Selling your 8800GTX now while it's still worth £270+ and switching to a GT for £150 would be the most sensible thing you could do right now imo, especially with how the GT is performing compared to the GTX. The £120 you would save is well worth the small drop in performance that you probably wouldn't notice.

I'd agree. If I was a GTX owner I would cash it in now too. Get the GT as a tide over and then get the revised GTX till the 9 series comes.

Alternatively, if new GTS cards come in at same price as current GTS cards and faster than the current GTX, you could sell your GTX now for good money and then buy a new GTS in a fortnight and have a better performing card and made money out of the swap

thats it, I'm selling my GTX, can't take it anymore, I'll try MM but I doubt I'll get a good price on there, no doubt I'll have to stick it on the bay, I'm gonna have to just make do with my 6200 :-( until the new GTX's are out.

Currently running a 6200 TC. Going to fire up UT3 for a laugh. :D

EDIT - Steady-ish 20fps @ 700*480 details set to minimum. :o

I would have sold my 2900Pro for this but the chances of my motherboard having PCI-E 1.1 are slim and none. Oh wait!! slim just died :( (R.I.P Slim). I'll just have to slug it out with this 2900 for now, oh well.

I find it comforting that a lot of leaf blowers are on the way for some strange reason?. I was blown away from the racket of the 2900's fan over the x1900 at full whack . I bet there are loads of people buying the 8800GT that have slated the 2900 fan at one point. Even Raven is jumping ship . This GT is changing people!!!!!!!!! :D. At least we can all agree for once (bliss). I think it's going to be a war with old GTX owners and new GT owners now. Nvidia have gotten so bored of the lack of competition that they have started their own war :p.

roflmao...it's a sad day when you have to start competing with yourself :D

On the other hand I think Nvidia is worried about the new ATI card. After all they dropped the price of the GT by £30 for that reason and no reason to do that looking at it's performance compared to the current 8 series cards. So it might be ATI vs Nvidia again in a few weeks time.

I thought the Jury was still out with 1.0 slots? Cause aren't 2600xt 2.0 pci-e cards and they definitely work in 1.0 slots? So slim might be rising from the grave yet

What a quandry, if I sell my 7900GT now I'll have to put "blast" a whole 80squid to it to buy the 8800Gt which is nearly an 8800 Gtx equivalent....hardly worth it ;) lol

hehehe Sad but true. Roll on Monday!.

I'm happy with Nvidia as there would have been no £170 odd 2900Pro for me. Even overclocked past XT speeds these cards still struggle against the ancient GTX but it's still a half decent upgrade over a X1900XT, which I sold & my PSU to a friend for £80.

You have a very good point with Nvidia dropping the price. It's going to be that either the ATI card is a worthy competitor or that Nvidia are just wanting to dominate. Not giving ATI an inch could warrant this drop too?.

That Voodoo you do, Welcome home Slim  :D.

I really hope it can. I just hope I can get something decent for my Pro if I get the thumbs up on the PCI-E front. There's a few on the bay from £150-£175. I could live with that.

So what eh?, I'd only lose £30 - £50. I have a 2k x 1.5k CRT screen and it loves power!!!. This GT would pair up better with my screen methinks.

Yeah, that would make sense if I was planning on selling it, but the GTX is actually the newest component in my rig now, so I'll be building a new PCI-E 2.0 + Quad rig when I upgrade to 9800, and I'll give my current setup to the G/F. :)

Am I reading wrong or are you thinking of selling your Pro now?
