Crysis Kills my 8800GTX

I might try very high and lower my res later.

I've just tried this game with settings on very high at 1280x1024 and its a jerky and slow as hell. :(
It's getting silly - the type of system you need to run newer games on full settings. I mean, the maximum res my monitor will run is 1280x1024 and in a way I'm glad!
I have to play the game on medium settings then it isnt at all choppy but you can see the landscape being renderred as you're walking through the thick forestry. :(

Thats the 8800GTS 320 not up to the job then. Not by a long way. I really might just go get an Xbox 360. Either that or its getting 2 8800GT's when they're out and whacking them in SLI.

Thats what I get with the rig in the sig.

It kicks the brown stuff out of my GTX...

(should read 1680x1050 on the res)

Listen, if it plays smooth and you can enjoy the game then that's all that matters. I haven't even checked what fps I get. I just have everything on medium and my res at 1680x1050. I haven't had anywhere so far where I have felt the game has been sluggish. However if I checked my fps, I would almost definitely be constantly wondering. So I just leave it.

Depends on your rig but if's it the same as Hex and your playing on medium with no AA you are getting 60+ fps so it will look smooth :p

And people say it only looks draw dropping on top settings?

I find the gameplay is smooth on my rig at 1280x1024 (max res of my monitor). But disappointed in my PC cos I can see it building the terrain in blocks as I walk around. Grrr

All things considered I think it runs very well on current hardware, especially considering how advanced it is. Think back to titles like Doom 3 and the Quake titles before it, each of which ran far worse on then-current hardware than Crysis does now.

On my rig (3.6 C2D, 8800GTS 640MB) at 1920x1200, it's playable with everything on High but "shudders" a fair bit. Medium is more than playable.

Has anyone tried any systematic fiddling with the advanced settings yet to determine which have the biggest bearing on performance?

I just found out the physics on it can max out a 3.4ghz conroe too.
You would need a beast of graphics setup for this to be concern under normal graphics settings though since gpu is the primary holdup

i have a 8800 gtx, fresh windows install today and new nvidia drivers and crysis on very high on everything and no drag at all :)

can't see what people are complaining about.

Not everyone can afford a system like yours I guess!
On a side note - anyone else find it really difficult to kill the enemy swiftly? Using way too much ammo, and the hand pistols take about 12 rounds to kill em off.

Im getting about 40FPS average.
Tried head shots - efin impossible. lol
Shooting targets in Bioshock was MUCH easier. I just keep getting gunned down :(

You cant hit a head because you only have 40fps?

O come on please. People say they cant kill people because they need a new mouse with 4000dpi when you can do it just as well with a crapy microsoft mouse.

But now you cant kill someone because you only have 40fps??????

No - the two statements were independent of each other in reply to 2 people.
i cant hit their head cos I'm ***** and its much harder than Bioshock that I am very used to at the moment.
Think you got muddled up with my reply there.

I see what your talking about now but then you need to sort out your quotes. You dont put a quote then write something under it which equates to what someone said in the post before you which is not quoted then continue going on about the thing you quoted on a new line. that just doesn't work lol.
