Crysis Kills my 8800GTX

Just tried it on my new rig
core 2 duo 6750 at 3.4 ghz
4gb ram
2900xt
24" BENQ monitor
vista
at 1900 x 1200 resolution
all settings at high plus 2x aa and it looked mint!
slowed down at the start until the plane fades a bit but after that i played right through fine!
wow! was expecting it to struggle after reading on here.
After they optmize it before release im sure it'll be even smoother!

Got an FPS count for us there?

I said months ago that crysis would need a new card, its the same thing every time a game like this comes.

Tbh.. for what the game is, it shouldnt perform this bad.

Who wants to buy this crap the way it runs?, im not buying it just so i can play it again smoothly like a year down the line. Much better games are coming anyway

Makes you wonder if Crisis has been intentionally written to run slow. Just think about it how many graphics card will Nvidia sell due to this game??

I love new hardware but there is no way i would buy a 9800 now (if it was out) just so i could play crysis then wait another 6 months for a game to push your card like crysis. My 8800GTX will still max games out for a good wile longer (e.g half life EP2, COD 4, Bio Shock). When the time comes and there is enough games out to fully justify £450 (price i think for 9800) then upgrade here i come.

What annoys me is that Crytek are trying to be progressive here, and all they get is stick from some quarters.

I bet if they simply removed all the high-end effects from the game, and renamed 'Medium' settings to 'OMG-SUPER-DOOPER-ULTRA-HIGH-DELUXE+++' in the menus then people would be full of praise.

Nah that would make me angry tbh

Your a joke. Ive not played a game on high or even very high for over 2 years. I have a 6800GT stop being so god damn spoilt and nock it down to high and it will run ok.

All you people seem to be obssessed with having full AA on a huge screen with all the settings up as high as they go when its really not needed. If you dont buy a game because you cant wack everything up to the highest setting i think your very sad. Besides this is a demo they will still be fine tuning it to get sli, crossfire and quads to work.

*** (it stard out quote for truth o0)
try putting up with BF2 on 9FPS.
would you prefer them to lower all the settings so you click on the v.v.vhigh buttons and have it look exactly the same as the high settings now? or woul you prefer that when you upgrade a few years down the line to have an old game look even better than it did?

You are all using such high resolutions, I thought my 19" was quite big (max it supports is 1280x1024), what monitors are you all using to support these high res'?

O i love your location nick. I know where you live :p

Its the house down the road oposit to the pub with the ivy which no longer has any ivy and somewhere down a road which is a few miles long. Man your directions are sooooooo bad!

Stuff like the widescreen 1680x1050 20" monitors, or the 1920x1200 24" monitors :)

How do you unlock the very high settings? Mine are greyed out.

I read you can enable manually very high settings in XP using the config. file

I didn't bother to try it as my rig cannot right smoothly with all high, but with all high and medium shaders at 1650x1050 no AA I get an average of 35 fps using the in game benchmark :D
