Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 - Official Thread

Ive played the game for 2 days now , come on guys its not that bad , the only problem i would say is the goal reply and cut scenes look unfinished , the game play is fine

Some PS3 magazine have gave Pro Evolution Soccer 8 / 10 , its still better then Fifa 2008
 
Yeah, overall very good. Annoys me on Live due to the laggyness. Some games better than others but just got spanked because of the lag, the balls was nowhere near me half the time then it would appear in my penalty box. Needs to be sorted out!
 
definitley worth getting, especially if you like single player or playing against a mate.

personally i love the online side, so i'm hoping a patch arrives sooner rather than later.

The subtle changes are what has made the game better for me, im finding new things every time I play. People that are writing it off after a day or 2 may never get to see them which is sad.

New Pro Evos have always been slow out of the blocks as it takes time to adjust to them and to uncover all the new features.

Releasing the game with slowdown and an unplayable online system is disgraceful however.
 
tbh, I actually like the subtle changes to the game mechanics and think this could be one of the best incarnations of Pro Evo. It always takes a few hours to get used to the changes.

They just need to release a patch to sort out the niggles.

I'm talking purely about how the game plays, nothing to do with the online problems.

There's nothing I can put my finger on, I think generally it's just the disappointing lack of progression compared to the last couple of versions, and the tweaks that have been made which don't feel right to me. Something about it doesn't feel finished.

On top of that, awful online problems and the cut scene/replay issues are pretty unforgivable.

I like it (PS3 version) but yeah, the online mode has well documented issues.

Gameplay wise I'm finding it much harder to win than in previous versions. I've found that you get punished more for dragging players out of position and I keep missing sitters that I would have scored in the last game.

I also don't understand why most reviews are saying that it's faster than PES 6 because my initial reaction was that they'd slowed the game down too much. You do get used to it though but I'd have liked it if they retained the PES shop and let you unlock players, game modes, etc as it makes the single player more interesting.

I haven't played PES6 for a long time, but I initially thought 7 was a lot faster paced (and worse for it).
