Bought a car off ebay, Outstanding Finance!

Yes, the other people are right. Walk away and buy another car. Its been sold with not the correct information given. You dont have to buy it. Contact ebay and the seller. Tell them the score. I bet this is'nt the first time ebay have heard about this matter.

There are plenty of cars around for £1500 are legit. What car is it anyway?

nope, its something much more risky to spend £1500 on :p

I have messaged the seller, i will see what is response is. Can't think of a genuine reason but you never know.

its only a £1500 car. I would post a link but i feel too much of a muppet.

Also in the auction he says he's only selling as he's got loads of money for replacement :(

Alarmist people are often smart enough to realize that somebody who can't afford to pay his finance on time most likely equally can't pay for correct servicing etc. ;)

Brave thing to do, post here & be sensitive to feeling Muppet like...... ;):D

If he's got loads of money, why the outstanding finance?

£1500 isn't an "only" amount to many people.

Post the link & be Muppetised man! :p

i don't think the OP has been a muppet in not checking before bidding.
on a £1500 car it wouldn't make sense to do an hpi check before bidding anyway. cos you might not win and it would get expensive to hpi every car you wanted to bid on.

the fact that the seller chose to omit this important info would be enough to make me walk away from the deal. it's not worth the hassle.

OT slightly, but has the trusty mondeo of waftyness given up the ghost?

nope, but its looking incredible shed like. I completly anilihated the rear bumper. The front bumper is cracking badly now.

Needs 4 new tyres soon and disks and pads at the front, its also clunking when steering one way and knocking when sterring the other. Probably not much wrong with it but i thought it was just a good time to replace it

unless you've got a real good reason to buy from this bloke its not worth the hassle

as some have said, it may be perfectly legit, you pay the finance off and enjoy happy motoring. unfortunately the chance of things going horribly wrong are much more likely

and unless hes selling you some sort of special edition car that you cant buy elsewhere, walk away and buy from some1 else. No need to put yourself through that much hassle for £1500 when there are tons of honest well loved cars out there.

First of all many cars are put up for sale with outstanding finance, it's quite normal, especially with expensive cars. I sold my GT3 with finance outstanding, but made it clear at the time and we simply factored this in to the payment terms. Deposit to me to secure, CHAPS to Porsche finance on the day of exchange together with balance to me on the same day too, a work of moments.

It really is nothing to be that worried about if the owner is being honest and up front.

i see where your comming from housemaster. Buying a GT3 isnt the sort of thing you do with pocket money, so finance is probably quite common :D

however, this is a £1500 car. If he cant scrape together a couple of grand to buy a car, whats he doing buying it through some dodgy finance ?

He may of financed it from new at £15k or so? Where's the issue then?

How likely is this? What did he do, buy a brand new Mondeo and take out a 10 year loan on it?

Sounds like he ran out of cash at some point and got PikeyFinance(tm) secured on the car.

All we know is that the car sold on ebay for £1500. We don't know anything about the seller other than he has finance on the car.

He may of paid £20k for it and financed it since new. We just don't know but everyone is jumping to conclusions.
