Hi everyone,

Just popped into the bank at lunch and gave the cashier £470 cash to put into my account. well went home and checked my account level and it appears she has put in £570, instead of the £470.

Having checked my receipt it says £570 too!

Anyone else ever had this done before ? :o

Jon!

The cashier will find out (or get told) that she was £100 down, and she'll either get into big trouble or it'll get reversed from your account...

I'm not playing the moral high ground though - I'd try to keep the money.

If the receipt says £570 then I don't see how they will. The cashier's till will just be down £100 :o

Obviously keep hold of it for a bit though.

if shes stamped your receipt at 570 then theres no way she can proove you didnt give her the full 570 tbh :/

unless theres cctv footage of her counting through the cash

if it was cash they will struggle to notice bit wehn they cash up at end of day they will be £100 out and this will cause a lot of grief for the branch staff

well mate, did you get a receipt ?

Indeed, I don't see why people are saying it'll be taken out of your account. Loads of people will have been to see her in the day, and any one of those she could have made the mistake on, so I don't see how they would track you.

Still, we assume the cashier made the mistake. You sure you gave her £470? ;)

Area Bank Manager also agrees they won't be able to find out where the £100 went.

Suprised she only countered that much by hand. She should have run it through the machine too. Silly girl, that's a disiplinery for her! :p
