Top Gear Returns Sunday 7th October

Anyone else think the 599 looked too high on it's 'feet', especially when the stig was doing the laptime, it just looked wrong and too much space between the wheels and wheelarch.

Is that because it is primarily a GT car and not a track car like the F430 ??

Mostly I think because it is supposed to be an everyday car, so the suspension can be set to something other than bonecrushing :)

It did look nice though, not as sporty as that Peel though,

Was laughing out loud at the little car segment, best bit of Top Gear for ages. All things considered a great episode.

Re: the Typhoon vs Veyron "race" - it's just a bit of fun really not a scientific experiment. Having said that the plane would've easily covered the distance between it and the ground at the end in the half-loop it made at the top of its ascent so the fact it didn't land at the end is largely academic imo. I think it was a pretty fair assessment. It would be pointless racing the two over a significant distance as the plane would decimate it (it does over 1000mph for crying out loud).

Thoroughly enjoyed it, apart from the usual 'Star in a reasonably priced car ' bit where I go and make a drink and get some food, absolutely brilliant episode.

that Typhoon pulling that tight loop on full afterburner - wowowowowow ...car - what car ?

:D

I agree, most of the SIARPC are dull, but last nights was hilarious :)

"So, why are you still alive?!"

If you want sensible reviews of more affordable cars watch (the very annoying) fifth gear. Since the fifth gear team jumped ship top gear's been about making the subject as fun as possible rather than giving critical insights into the indicator stalk on a Mondeo.

No thanks, 5th gear is awful. Tiff Needel and Plato are the only presenters I can bare to listen to, the rest of them (especialy the giggling tart) are like finger nails on a blackboard.

BTW I don't want boring reviews of boring cars e.g. number of cup holders etc. I want more exciting and entertaining reviews of affordable cars, as well as the supercars. Most of the challenges have been quite entertaining, especialy the arctic special episode, but they could almost do a spin-off series based on them, and get back to cars in the show.

Quality episode, the eurofighter clip was breathtaking, ended up explaining to the wife about g-forces etc...

My 12 year old son also asked what Clarkson meant about 'badge', decided not to explain. Got the impression that this comment also flew over the top of a lot of the audience as there wasn't a lot of reaction but I was in hysterics.
He was referring to the high status of owning a Lamborghini. The emblem of Lamborgini is of course the badge. "A lot of badge" refers to the big status of the badge (=Lamborghini). A similar car with a Skoda badge on it just wouldn't have that status.

At least, that's what they can say in reply to the complaints :)

Plato and Tiff are the only things that make Fifth Gear even remotely bareable. Vicki is ok in very short doses but Tom Ford and that new "yoof perspective" guy are too annoying to watch.

I wish TG would ditch the "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" segment and replace it with more irreverance or another road test.

On a tangent, GT5 on the PS3 will have the Top Gear track available as one of the tracks in the game. That could be very entertaining.

I thought the same thing. It did'nt have dip down when breaking into the hammerhead and chicago.

It could have softer suspension due to being a GT car, Im not really sure.

What time has the F430 gone round the track in?

Regarding the Typhoon. They are awesome.

I saw one in action at Southport Airshow not long ago. I was just stunned how loud it is and how agile it is. It cant have shift and pull of some very tight manoeuvres.

Great episode last night, really enjoyed it. I really want one of those tiny 1 man cars :p

Yeah I agree - saw one few months ago in an air show at Guernsey and it was very loud

I wonder how loud those peel's are inside? It seemed a little loud to me when the in 'car' footage was shown...

Is there a ban that they could'nt take the Reventon around the track? Bit like Bugatti not allowing them to take the Veyron around the track incase in the front end decides to eat some tyre's again like the CCX :p
