Views of the Western Highlands.

Loving your work MK, as usual. Those last 4 are stunning.

Two thumbs up!

Thank you.:)

Won't comment on these until I get home as this monitor isn't calibrated, pics look lovely though mate :)

Cheers dude.:)

I may e-mail you too, i wouldn't mind getting some of your work printed in maybe a3.

Any idea on price for that size?

Thank you.:) I would be looking at about £40 for A3. Normally that would be just for the straight print through my Photobox Pro account, but until I get it set up properly i'll throw in free window mounting and signature for that price. ;)

Same here interested in A3, having probs with my mail at the mo so will prob email you in few days Messiah Khan.

Sure, thats no problem. See above post for pricing. Im very gratefull of people wanting to buy my prints, and im more than happy to accomodate this, but if anyone else wants to enquire about purchases please can you keep it to email as I don't want to be breaking the forum rules about promoting business interests.

Thanks,
Ali.

:)

some really good shots there MK, i really like no.8 myself.

Cheers mate. We still have to go out for a photo day sometime. I quite like the idea of Teesport, paddies hole or out towards Seal Sands (If its possible to get out that way now):)

haha looks like your be winning your own Tranquil Competition ;)

really nice photo's.
was it cold?

a few look like it was. while the others look like summer!
if you do enter one, I think I'll know which one :P

so I will have to wait to see if my prediction is right.

how, just how :/ all excellent as usual, u make me sick sir!!

9 is my fav purely because u made a boring subject interesting.

also u care to share your processing skills with us? or is that top secret???

3, 4 and 7 look to be the pick of the bunch for me.

The locations of them would be good as well:)

Is that Castle Tioram in no.5?

Cheers :) It wasn't too cold actually. Just before I went I bought a cheap realtree cammo overshirt (Well I needed a cammo top if im going to look like a pro while deer stalking didn't I?:D) And with that ontop a fleece and a tshirt I was perfectly warm, even at 5 in the morning while waiting for the sunrise. The weather was very variable, but most of the time it was just moody clouds with plenty of godrays shining through.

Thank you. Nope, none of my techniques are secret. Sharing knowledge is half the fun. The processing varies a lot between shots. they all start off in Lightroom where I tweak the exposure, contrast and saturation levels etc. Dustspots and flare spots are then cloned out. I then move into Photoshop where I clone out other distracting elements (Number 8 for example had a few pebbles etc that took away from the simplicity of the shot). I'll then do any dodging and burning to enhance certain areas of the shot and make others recede (subtelty is the key here) I then go back into Lightroom to finish off any toning, vignetting and final level tweaks. Finally I export the image at the right size, open it up in Photoshop and use the high pass sharpening technique with a layer mask to only sharpen areas with detail so as to minimise noise. The border is then added and the image uploaded for your viewing pleasure. :)

Really impressed with your shots mate.

Inspirational :)

Cheers.

I can see #7 appearing in athena :D

That would be good wouldn't it. Wonder how places like that choose images and how much the togs make.

No idea im afraid. Im terrible with place names. All of them were shot withing about an hours drive of Arisaig if that helps.

These are fantastic, I can only dream of getting anywhere near this kind of level.

Keep taking pictures and you'll keep getting better :)

oh yea...

I forgot...
What lens... what lens!! or lenses? :P

Sigma 10-20mm for most of them with 2 and 5 being shot with the 30mm f1.4. The deer ones in the other thread were shot with the Sigma 300mm f2.8

& here I was going to ask you to name the locations to see if I my guesses were right.
I too think that's Castle Tioram.

Beautiful photos, all of them but there's something about #8 that I particularly like even though it's a simple setting ...
