Play Crysis in DX 10 Mode Under XP - works

Has anyone actually done a proper compairision between this new "very high" setting for XP and the "very high" mode for Vista?

What exactly is the difference?

True and it hasn't made the game unplayable - far from it infact ... the only scene that was sub 10 fps was the aircraft and island at the very start but thats understanble given how much is going on there!

Am very pleased with the way this is going !

its pretty much most if not all of the DX10 exclusive features in DX9 in windows xp. works great.

it may not be DX10 itself but who cares when DX10 is running the features so bad lol

Well worth trying! Ok, there's a noticeable frame rate hit, but the results are excellent... and sometimes more.

I try not to be a graphics tart... it's about gameplay every time, right? But immersion is a significant factor, and the tweaked visuals in Crysis cross another threshold towards photo-realism. You're never going to be completely fooled, but there have been a few occasions in the last half hour or so of testing when I've just had to stop and stare at the scenery. Incredible stuff.

Is it actually worth doing this ? TBH ive got mine working great under DX9 mode and it looks and plays brilliantly. Do the little changes warrant the performance decrease.

I love it how people that generally have DX10 already (Vista users) are now saying "I think it's funny how XP users are getting excited" :p

yeah they do m8........especially the water waves.
there is a performance hit for me atleast but its certainly worth it....just dont expect the world...especially for free:p.

Hmm, im so tempted to rid of vista and go back to XP. I cant run the game in very high anyway. Only thing is XP wont support my 4GB but ill see atleast 3.5 GB. I just cant make my mind up ! :)
