I'm trying to establish what coolers are currently usable with the 8800GT series...

Reviews seem to say its the same hole configuration as the 7900 series.
True/False?

What coolers are people using / ordering ... ?

P.S. I have seem some info posted on these but i have given up trying to go through the ramblings epic thread.

Why would you change the cooler? I believe the stock cooler its a silent one
The card in the Guru3D review went up to 90C, I can imagine the card's fan spinning faster if the card is in a case with little airflow, also the heat is dumped into the case instead of exhausted out the back.
The fan is very quiet if the GPU temp is lowish but as soon as it heats up the fan starts pinning faster, the same as the GTS/GTX/Ultra cards.

As for the original question I don't know what the holes are, I haven't seen any info in the reviews I watched, I did notice a post that stated the holes are the same as the 8800GTS but I'd take that with a pinch of salt and investigate further.

Yes i am trying to investigate furhter but from the diagrams of the PCB's i've seen the holes dont quite match the 7900 range nor any other.

You are able i believe to use the VF900 but i believe this is pure coincidence...

Are we 100% sure that anything that fits the 7600 range will fit the GT.

I've just changed my order from an eVGA to an OCuk and i'm planning on pushing it to 750mhz core and i somehow doubt that the stock cooler is going to handle that.

eVGA are going to be pumping out a 750mhz core card so it must be achievable, question is how much cooling is it going to need!

wow! the temps go up a lot when tis under load, my 8800gts stays a constant 60
It depends a lot on the case airflow, I have almost no airflow as I have watercooling and an external radiator and my 8800GTS get up to 87C under load.

Also I think the sensors are very inaccurate as there is a big difference between cards.
