Can anybody recommend a mobo that they have had great results with for the Intel e2180 (i.e a good overclock between 2.7 and 3.0 ghz)?

I would prefer to keep the costs as low as possible possibly under £80 and with a fire wire port although not essential.

With so many motherboards on the market it hard to know what to choose.

Thanks in advance

whats the performance like of these as some reviews of these types of board (ddr2 and ddr3) have said their performance is lacking.

I've read these are good Oc'er and custom PC a few months back rated the P5KC 88% iirc. I bought one with both OC'ing in mind and the compatability of DDR3. I'm not in the habit of upgrading mobos every year so it was a no brainner for me really. If you want to reach silly speeds then you are going to have to spend more but 3GHz + is no problem for this board.

For a dual-core the N650i chipset boards are excellent value. The Gigabyte N650i-DS4 is very much better than the ASUS P5N-E SLI as it has no Vdroop and supports Penryn out of the box. It also has excellent chipset cooling, an area where the P5N-E is weak. Both have firewire.

just to finish this post off I have gone for the asus p5kc , e2180 and 2gb of corsiar ram.

just to say thanks for the advice now for putting it together and overclocking it.

The fun part or not!!!!!
