Youth jailed for killing sister

What race are you? I think the same as yourself (the photo of the sister i guess is just a bad picture!), but then truthfully i find it impossible to judge the age of black people accurately.

white british. I have lived with a mixed race lad for 2 years. I can usually judge the ages of black/mixed race people aswell. (maybe i cant)

I think he looks a lot older than 17 years, Perhaps the paper has got the wrong picture, It has been known to happen! When I was involved in an incedent the papers reported that I had a 10 year old son when infact he was 10 days old I was only 21 myself!

Why would a mother who's trying to hide a gun, tell her 17 year old son where she's buried it?
Has she told the police who gave the gun to her to hide?
I know she's lost her daughter, and I empathise with that, but she deserves all she gets.

Hate these kind of gun stories, but especially this one because my parents live in that area.

Edit: Just found out from my brother, this happened in the next street from where my parents live. Nice!

Without trying to sound to harsh the mother should be getting sent down for a lot more than 3 years. Additionally I would say she is not even fit to be a parent. What adult in their sane mind would tell any of their children where the hell they had hidden an illegal firearm. Add to that if she was a responsible parent she would never have had that weapon come into or hidden in her household full well knowing she had children who could possibly find it and end up doing themselves or others a serious injury if only through a freak accident.

I am not even sure if a prison sentence will cut it. Cases like this require some kind of administrative punishment such as a good floging in public maybe in addition to a good period of detention.

If kids see their parents bring guns / knive etc home what kind of example are they setting ? And then people start to wonder why so many youths get involved in gun and knife related crimes.

Yes deffinately a tragedy of epic proportions and the mother deserves a very large portion of stiff justice

unlucky he managed to pull the trigger accidentally whilst the thing was pointed at his sisters head.

he was stupid and he pays a really tough penalty for it.

shame.

Did he think it was a toy gun? Presumably is mum told him where it was. She deserves to get a LOT longer than 3 years if she told him it was a cap gun or something, as he could have done a lot worse. (train/bus driver etc)

However if she told him it was a real gun then she should still get more. What a stupid irresponsible mother

That is a massive can of worms just begging to be opened right there.

i think it should be opened. Stop the rehabilitating if the figures are shocking and pump the money into more useful areas. Like sorting out imigration

There we go a double can of worms!

Tragic story, but good sentence, maybe a little to short. why was he playing and why did he have a gun.
Glad the mother got time, it's disgusting people need these weapons. Although it is a very tragic accident, they shouldn't of had a gun in the first place.

A 17 year old lad "playing" with a revolver? Who points a gun (even if they think its a toy) at their little sisters head and pulls the trigger? Perhaps its just me but that seems like a stupid thing to do.
But his mother 1. having the gun and 2. telling her obviously juvenile/ gangster wannabe son where it was when she left town is what I can't get my head round. Were there people after them for money/ drugs etc?

More to that story than meets the eye imo
