Hi all,

Wondering which card to order?
Both cards are priced the same.
The specs between the cards differ in the shader clock and memory bandwidth.
BFG has their Shader clock running at 1600MHZ vs EVGA's 1500MHZ.

EVGA on the other hand has it's memory running at 1900MHZ (same as the BFG) but has more memory bandwidth, 60.6GB/s. How is that possible?

So which is the better card??

Here are the specs from overclockers;

BFG
- GeForce 8800 GT core running at 650MHz
Shader Clock Speed of 1600MHz
- 512MB GDDR3 Memory running at 1900MHz
- Memory Bandwidth: 57.6GB/s

EVGA
- GeForce 8800 GT core running at 650MHz
- Shader Clock Speed of 1500MHz
- 512MB GDDR3 Memory running at 1900MHz
- Memory Bandwidth: 60.6GB/s

My 8800 ultra superclocked was a beast and had plenty more init so i would say go EVGA as they dont mind if you take the stock cooler off it.

EVGA have the fastest 8800GT, I posted info 2x other day.

700/1750/2000.

" The army of GeForce 8800 GTs released today includes stock and overclocked cards but it is one that manages to get in front due to its performance. A lot of manufacturers have increased the clocks of their 'special' cards but it seem that EVGA can take the first crown with the e-GeForce 8800 GT SSC (Super Super Clocked) Edition. The card features a stock cooler, it has the core and memory set to 700 and 2000 MHz respectively, same as Zotac's AMP! Edition but it takes the lead courtesy of the Shader clocks, 1750 MHz compared to the 1700 MHz of Zotac's card. Of course, this is just the first wave of 8800 GTs so we may see EVGA's record frequencies be topped and surpasses by the end of the year. "

Patients young padwin and I did suggest to the Boss of store that they get them as they do the normal SC and if they dont sell them peeps will simply buy elswhere. ;)

I know its hard, but try not to rush in, I have regreted in the past, you dont need it yet as Final Crysis aint with us, just struggle through the demo and then unistall it and keep your eyes out for special cards.

So the EVGA 8800GT SSC 512MB is the fastest of the pre-clocked cards so far. I dont see it on the stock list for OCUK ? They have other EVGA pre-clocked cards but not the SSC (Super Super clocked) version.

Also is it possible when you buy a pre-clocked card to overclock it even more or with them already being pre-clocked is it not possible ? Surley apart from warranty reasons you would buy a stock version and clock the backside out of it yourself ? Anyone managed to get some ridiculous overclocks with the card as yet ?

Just seen the official overclocking thread for the 8800GT I will have look in there !

My EVGA 8800Ultra SC is 655/2250 out the box (cant remember Shader)

Im now 700/2400, (The Memory is 0.8ns Samsung rated for 2500mhz), so yes cherry picked Cores may have some omph left in them.

BTW some peeps aint reaching 700mhz Core with there 8800GT's its all down to luck if you get a good Core or not.

So in that case someone can buy a cherry picked version :D and overclock it a little more and benefit from a better waranty too and I guess with buying a pre clocked one you are guaranteed regarding the overclocking performance.

But you could also buy a no name brand 8800GT, for very cheap & end up with these clocks yourself anyway & save quite a bit. Besides who will notice a few frames difference here or there, casued by a small margin in differing clocks.

The only reason I'd decide against that is because some cards you buy can't even clock for toffee. At least with pre-clocked ones you have some sort of guarantee they can actually run the clocks.
