anyone owned an audi 100 or 80 diesel?

Im thinking of getting one (estate) for a cheap load lugger.

I like the look of them and the 2.5 diesel in the 100 sounds just the ticket.

Just wondered if they were any good?

the place that services our company cars (cobridge test centre) gives us one as a courtesy car. Its a K reg but it drives alright for an old diesel.

The used prices on them are too good to make them a sound buy imo. People pay silly money like 1.5-2k for a sheddy 100 TDI.

Get a petrol one instead and pocket the difference. Unless you get an 80 1.9 TDI they aren't even that economical. Volvo 850s at sub £1k also worth a look (petrol).

surely an 850 volvo will absolutely guzzle fuel? Im travelling about 3000 miles a month at present!

Well they did an 850 with the same 2.5 TDI as the 100, should be cheap enough now.

3000 miles a month does justify a diesel, fair enough.
