Do you report people to the police?

I've phoned the police twice.

Once when I saw some kids throwing stuff onto the motorway from a bridge  and once when I saw a wardrobe in the fast lane.

A wardrobde? blimey! The one time i was actually thinking of reporting someone a police car actually turned up and pulled them anyway. Think we were on the M6 coming back into Birmingham when we spotted an estate car with the hatch totally vertical and a matress hanging about a foot and half out of the back of the car. In the back there was a woman lying on her stomach on the matress facing out the back, she looked terrified .

I saw a lorry going all over the place on the motorway today and i was considering reporting him. When I drew level i discovered him making dinner in his cab

I was going to report an A8 on the M40 who was all over the shop since he was using his mobile phone.

Then I realised I'd have to make a call on my mobile in order to do it. Catch 22.

Where i live, as you come out of town its a 30mph so i was going a steady 30mph and this jerk off in an ugly fiat ppl carrier was right up my arse. Thought nothing of it, then it goes into a 40mph zone, so again sped up to 40mph, and this guy well, i dont think you could have stuck your finger in the gap between bumpers - so i tapped brakes to let him know to stay back.

Anyway, he decides he would try overtake, however had to quickly pull back in (almost wiping rear end out) due to a parked car on opposite side. So i was lauging when he did this, anywho, once passed he tried it again, as he was doing it i was speeding up ever so slowly not letting him past as i knew he wouldnt make it anyway due to a central res in the road, again he moved back in (remember this is in a 40mpg zone) so there he is beeping and everything, then tries it again, this point im really really ****** off, absolutly no need in a 40 zone to be overtaking, so i decide to miss my turning and show him up, come to the national speed limit, let him get to the side of me then just put my foot down. He was a mid aged bloke, with i think his teenage girlfriend or daughter in the car.

Not sure what he had to prove, but i turned off and he started following me, i thought hmmm this is strange, so get my phone out ready to take a movie of his actions (i know breaking the law!) we are going through a village at 30, again in his manner of being up my arse he decides to overtake, im filming him, and as he passes and notices i am filming him he slams his breaks on and literally looses control in the road, luckily no damage to me or any other, just his pride as locals go up to him and give him whats for.

Anyway, with this footage would you:

a) a report it?
b) let it lie low, at the end of the day im breaking the law by using my phone whilst driving?

This has happened to me 3 times in the last 2 weeks. I drive a Mondeo ST24 taht has been modified, however i would have thought if this would have happened previous it would have been when i was driving my fiesta ZS!!!

Sorry for the long read, hope it makes sense!

I've reported many people in the past, but, as the Police do absolutely sod all about it, I no longer bother.

Not sure what he had to prove,

I'm not sure what YOU had to prove either. Your actions were shocking. Why didn't you just let him overtake and make progress? It was obvious he wanted to get past but no, you had to teach him a lesson. How dare he try to overtake you, eh? You are the one that made the situation bad and went out of your way to aggrivate another driver.

People who drive like you seriously get on my ****. You view being overtaken like it's some sort of attack on your manhood and have to prevent it at all costs.

Get a life.

Sorry i think you mis-understood the situation, overtaking in a 30/40mph and also in a village with kids playing? And people on the footpaths.

I was keeping to the speed limit, there was no need for him to take this action.

Agreed i could have been a bit more mature in the situation, but at this point it infuriated me that he was mimicking(sp) the actions of a stupid kid in a corsa spec'd out by ripspeed.

I dont mind being overtaken at all, im pretty much the one who keeps at 60 and is the one who gets overtaken, most of the time i will indicate to the other driver behind that its clear to do so.

I've reported one person, someone I knew actually (but wasn't friends with). He was McLashed, so I called the police, gave them his home address and they caught him driving up the driveway - 3X over the limit, 1 yr ban. I had to give evidence too :S.

Normally I would have left it but he was using his car to drive over to a friend's house (girl) and give them abuse - it was a regular occurrence. Without the car he couldn't get there easily so it stopped. Not a nice experience.

If the person is going quiker than you, then you should move in and let them past, regardless of what people do 99% of the time.

I'd only pull in if I could get back out again before I came up to the next vehicle in the inside lane without slowing down. If I'd have to slow in the inside lane to allow the other person to pass me before pulling back out then I wouldn't - why should I inconvenience myself just because they want to get passed?

Sussex has this "operation crackdown" website that I've used a couple of times... if someone drives like a proper twit I'll note their reg and will report it if I remember to. I don't see why drivers like that should get away with it.

I was waiting at a double mini roundabout thingy, when a car (car A) sped through and clipped another car (car B) already on the roundabout. Car A hardly slowed at all as he sped off. Managed to get the license plate though, so I reported it to the police as soon as I got home.
Police were very appreciative, but I don't know if anything came of it.
