The Genius of Photography

I can't say I found it very well made, don't get me wrong, the subject was interesting, but the presentation was incredibly dull.
The camera obscura was damn cool though.

I'll still give next week's one a try though!

Depends what you want. I wanted facts rather than some stupid over hyped rubbish that teenagers seem to love. They gave facts in an informative way.

Worked for me :)

Well that one was a disappointment :(

I can't stand people telling you what the photographer thought when he was taking the shot. God that's irritating.

yeah, i was thinking that... the one with the tree in front of the notre dame cathedral and the guy was like "ooooh it shows the power of nature against the angelic qualities of the cathedral... (or something equally cheesey)" and i was thinking... how do you know?? how do you know that the guy just didnt check his viewfinder properly and when he developed it thought "**** there is a filthy tree in the middle of my shot!"

either way i found it interesting.

Yeah that's why it annoys me. There's no way in hell that they could possibly know what he was thinking. The fact that that chap said he turned the photo upside down to see this line of the old flue, then made up some amzingly moronic story to suit it was unbelievable! If you're going to say something along those lines, you could actually say that the tree and the flue aligned perfectly in the centre of the image, and that's why he took it. That's equally valid using that self righteous gits opinion.

It's far more likely that 99% of those photos were taken how and where they were, simply because the photographer liked the image. I'm sure that if there was more to it than that, there would be a record of this from the photographer.

The one that amused me the most was their thoughts on the dust photo.

This episode underlines my hatred towards the whole "modern art" and people that spout crap about it being art, making up utterly moronic suggestions about why the shots are taken. Like the latest fiasco in the Tate modern - a crack in the floor. Let me come there and kick you to death, then leave the corpse for all to see. That'd me much more enjoyable art. The art of decomposition :D

Hasn't someone left a dying dog as an 'exhibit' somewhere recently? Disgusting.

I'm glad to hear this series will be repeated on BBC2 next year, with me not having access to digital TV.

Don't forget tonights episode :)

Hopefully it'll be better than last weeks. It sounds better on the BBC site, anwway.

Hmm, slightly better than last weeks. Nothing much more than programmes I've seen about those subjects before. I think this series is starting to lose it's way somewhat.
