Has anyone hit high fps on Crysis very high settings yet?

Just wondering if anyone out there with perhaps a OC'd QC and a SLi Ultra setup has hit high fps on Crysis demo using the very high settings and full AA?

Just wondering what it takes? Or is it actually beyond current hardware?

On mine the very high settings are grayed out? I thought they were inaccessible until final release?

Proper "Very High" is only available on Vista due to it needing DX10 for the volumetric stuff etc, you need a DX10 card also.

You can hack the "very high" textures to run on XP though, and I guess by the same technique you could get "very high" to be able to run on DX9 hardware in Vista also.

Probably still beyond TBH.

FarCry @ top settings was beyond the capability of the hardware on release. I only managed to get it to run on full goodies a year or two later when i got a 7950GX2. On it's release i think there were only x800's and 6800 ultras.

It's only the demo so not fully optimised yet. I keep saying this but no one listens. The full game should run a lot better.

I feel the most telling aspect of the game is that my quad is never remotely fully loaded. I have a G15 and it only ever shows around 35% load which isn't even 2 of the 4 cores.

I really hope you're right Chris! ;)

Yer but have u seen the graphics. Its asking a lot for the top end graphics cards. Even if it is optimised it would get at most 10fps boost.

I doubt that the full game is going to run *that* much better, the demo was only out a couple of weeks ago at the most and Crysis went gold this week, I know nothing about games development but I don't think they could have done that much optimisation in like a week. We know that current hardware gets tanned on very high settings, I think we should just deal with it! :p

Here's hoping all the same though.

it went gold a day or two after the dmeo - so its not going to be massively different code - and whilst the demo may have some debugging code in the image - the graphics wont - so the cpu load may go down, but the graphics will only improve marginally - even over time perhaps - I would guess the drivers will largely give the best improvement over time IMHO.

Well, they have between going gold to release to create a patch (almost all games these days have a patch on release)

Also, about the CPU utilisation, yeah, it is way down! It barely made an impression on my Q6600.

Plus drivers will improve.

I am not saying we will have very high settings playable on any of the hardware currently out. Not even close. They should, however, be able to improve on current performance by a decent margin.

Was playing last night on mine, didn't drop below 60fps on high settings, i think i might get 30+ on Xtra High

Nah, that not right, what rez you playing at, 800x600? even on high your not going to get anywhere near 60fps constantly and forget about very high at 30+fps.

Indeed, with a mix of high/very high and medium I get 30fps at 1680x1050 and my spec is better than his!

Agreed, something not right there. Sounds like a very low res or Medium textures.

Also, remember SLi doesn't work in Crysis yet, so those people with uber SLi setups arn't going to be getting any better numbers than us folks with single cards.

I dont want to start a new thread as there are enough here, but ever since running the Crysis benchmar, the game will only load with the Windows taskbar on display. I cant get thegame to load in its own full window. Task bar always there.
Any ideas?

Go into your graphics settings and tick full screen. You more than likely minimised it at some point, which unticks this option (when running DX10 only I think)

As an aside, has anyone noticed that changing the resolution in this game does very little for performance? Between 1680 X 1050 and 800 X 600, there was VERY little difference... can anyone else see if its same with theirs?
