Lord of the Rings Online

yep cost me about 1.5gold in new Loremaster skills ... sad thing is the update has killed off PvMp and etten is getting very quiet ... shame the devs dont listen more

The Rift is great fun, 12 man raid and its quite tough with good voice overs and battles

So is this game actually worth £150 for a life time membership. Does that include upgrades?

Is it like wow where you eventually play for about 4+hours on raids? Or can you be a casual gamer?

yeah i have noticed that the ettenmoors are very quiet at the moment,

had a go at the rift other day, the raid go smashed to pieces about 6 times in the first area before i gave up, was a public raid and not v well organised will probably arrange one within the kinship instead.

re is it worth the money

yes it includes updates tho like other mmo's im sure at some point there will be a full scale upgrade that requires a purchase

all i can say is this is my first mmo and i've never been so addicted to a game

not only that the communtiy is great, have made some good friends within the kinship and spend hours chattin on team speak while we play

give the trial a go and see what u think, one thing i would say is the full game is a hell of a lot better than the trial as u need more than 7 days to get to the best parts of the game

hope this helps

anyone thats wants to do rift on snowbourn right now drop me a tell, need a grd and 2 lrm's

ingame name, aerhrian

bah, only had 1 combat rez and couldn't make past the first boss :(

you need at least 2 minstrels, 2 captains and 2 tanks to get anywhere

sounds like you did better than us, we only got as far as the bit where u first see one of the fire giants (not sure why they have called em fire giants they look like normal giants to me)

well we got the the slope where u look down and can see him then we got wasted,

leader was callin for ppl not to wait for rez and just run back in and i thought sod it this is costing me a fortune in repairs.

unfortunatly our kin has recently lost a couple of lvl 50's so we dont have any 50 captains infact i think we only have lvl 50's minstrels x3 guardians x3 and the inevitable bunch of hunters oh and a burgular or 2 i think

so i think i will have to draft in some extras when i arrange a kin run

For anybody still interested in playing the 7-day trial the official website has now started giving out keys so your now able to sample the game without the need for a 'buddy key'.

Not sure if this has always been the case/ if this has already been posted but heres the linkage anyhow :)

http://www.lotro-europe.com/trialkey.php

yeah trial key offer has been running about a month now, but it never hurts to mention it again for anyone that didnt know.

one thing i would say is that game gets much better that the 7 days as you dont get to experiance most of the fun areas and quests within your 7 days (well unless your proper hardcore and play 24/7 :P)

So is this game worth a try , my last mmorpg was WoW (before the expansion came out) i stopped playing.

Do you get any xp while offline etc? is it still 100 % grind?

Is the lifetime payment still there to use ?

The game is worth a try certainly & the lifetime offer is now £150 but still available.

I have played WoW before & although I do not wish to directly compare the two, WoW does seem to play smoother (I suspect that is my crappy system) but I am used to the busy envrionment WoW has.

LOTR:Online will grow on me though as I understand more about the game- it is a lot to take in at once me thinks.

Beautiful scenery & great fun to explore :) Just wish it would run smoothly & at higher res on my system!

yep, graphics are amazing and do require high end Pc's to get the best ... i recently tried the dx10 options but its too unstable and glitchy not to mention a fps killer at times

Meh , on pre order - Gold edition that comes out this Friday :P

DX10 support isn't fully in game yet it stills needs a lot of work, so it will get better as they patch the game up.

hmmm TR has won over this for me , if i don't like TR then ill play this instead ..lol :) (canceled my pre order)

update

Be patient and wait till Friday...

That said, the game is the most immersive game I have ever played. If you're into the books and lore, you'll appreciate nigh on every small snippet of lore inserted here, there and everywhere. :D

much the same for me, as a self admitted tolkein geek i really love the lore and the way that the world has been realised.

i did some of the new quests yesterday (though i didnt get any xp for them)

chasing Gollum across the trollshaws was brill :)
