Crucial RMA

Awesome RMA service. Probably the best in the business.

48 hours is maybe a little hopeful, but certainly within 5 days if they have it in stock.

1 of my Crucial Ballistix 5300 failed about a week ago.I sent Crucial an email about the RMA process but they never replied:mad:
What I wanted to know was do I have to send back both sticks since back I brought (2x1GB)?
Also since they were delivered in a anti static bag in a box from OcUK, I've long since dumped the packaging, Guessing as long as I stick it/them in a anti static bag its all good?
First time I've had ram die on me:(

Phone Crucial for free on 0800 013 0330 and get put straight through to a Scottish bird/bloke. They're more than happy to issue you with an RMA number.

Yes you need to return both sticks.

And no you don't need the original packaging. Just ensure they are well packaged.

Nope, crap imo.
1 of my 1GB PC5300 Ballistix sticks died on me a week or two ago. I promptly RMA'ed Special Del which arrived with Crucial (now Lexar Media) on Monday last week.

I got the replacement ram back on Friday last week, and guess what, they'd sent out 2x 512MB sticks instead of 2x1GB Sticks.

Cue me on hold for over 22 mins on one occasion before getting cut off and 16 mins on another.

ive emailed, ive complained to LIVE CHAT, and finally got through to their customer services yesterday.

They are now going to swap my 2x1GB PC5300 kit for the 2x1GB PC6400 kit as i think they ahve run out of PC5300's now and hopefully refund my shipping costs. Frustrating experience all over tbh.

It happens.

But I returned four separate RMA's to Crucial earlier this year and had no issues, other than the memory being out of stock once. And even then I received the new sticks 5 days before they were supposed to be back in.

I have dealt with Crucial on a couple of occassions regarding RMAs, and I have found them most helpful....polite, willing and professional....:)

OK, i have some ill Crucial 10th Aniv, one stick is punching out errors on Memtest Test 5, 18 errors in 7 min, which is pretty bad:

The second stick is REALLY ill..... like 23 errors in 35 seconds on test 2, and i just stopped there, i'm sure it would have continued to rack up the errors:

Both test are at stock speeds and voltages.

Thing is, Crucial are prob going to send me back a DDR2 667 set, which is equivilant, but not reflective of the added value of the Special Edition Aniv set.

OCuk recently replaced my out of stock DFI RD600 with a X38 P5E, so i'm tempted to send it back to them in the hope i can barter for a more reasonable replacement.....

Anyone had any experience of returning special edition RAM (or anything else for that matter), and can give me any advice on how to proceed?

Crucial will indeed send you PC5300 Ballistix

I eventually extracted PC8500 Ballistix from OcUK in exchange for my Anni's. Contact me on my trust e-mail for the full gory details.

thanks mate, emailed!

PC8500 Ballistix is some of the best stuff around atm, so that would be a fair trade IMO..... maybe the tracer stuff too? That stuff looks cool.......

I RMAed a set of 2x1gig DDR400 to them and they wanted to replace it with 4x512, I refused stating that the only reason i bought it was because I wanted to run it at 1t...they gave me a full refund..which was nice.

to many problems with crucial sticks .. i used to have 2gb ballistix ddr500 kit with my old rig and i had to RMA it twice .. [memory on default settings all the time] .. thats why i dicided not to go for any crucial sticks anymore .. now im on 2gig geil ull and im very pleased with'em ;] ..

what i have to admit - crucial's RMA works flawlesly ;]

The single biggest problem with the current batch of Crucial RAM is that it is quite possible to clock it to destruction and that's exactly what people do. You almost never hear of anyone RMAing PC8500 RAM, it's the PC5300 and PC6400 kits that are failing, and it's mainly because people are running them at anything up to twice their rated speeds.

lolz im rma'ing 2x1gig 8500 ballistix tracers tomorrow

2nd rma with crucial dont think ill try em again next upgrade

but yeah the rma service is very good

anyways youve now heard of one :D
