tv adverts

The Bill has had 3 advert breaks per 1 hour programme (So not every 10 minutes) ever since it moved to 1 hour format a number of years ago. Prior to that, it had one set of adverts per 30 minute show, so not really any different.

You don't actually pay a penny for ITV. The advertisments do.

Maybe in your world but every 10 mins in mine ;)

I pay a set fee for my cable tv you can't just have itv :D

It cheeses me off when the volume suddenly rises when the adverts come on. If I wanted it louder, I would have done it myself.

Most people I know just mute the tv due to this so the advertisers lose out !

I think you have got to be a brain dead to sit there for 5 mins watching them but I guess many people must or they would stop advertising .

There really isn't any scope for arguement. Count the ads next time you watch The Bill. There will be 3. Thats not every 10 minutes.

in theory it's 5, or 4 (being picky)

1 before it starts
2 15 minutes in (which is actually about 5 minutes in (excluding the opening credits)
3 30 minutes in (again, supposedly)
4 45 minutes in
5 and last but not least one when it's finished

on a side note, is it just me or have they become longer, when i was a kid they seemed to be almost non existant and all individual adverts were very short

You can't count the ones before and after a programme :p

this is where it slightly differs to the us. i noticed that they have ads before a program, then after the opening credits, then x during show, 1 more set before end credits and then back for the credits. terrible!

I use Sky+ for everything I want to watch, so it's not a problem for me :p. I agree with the people complaining about anti-piracy adverts on dvds though, especially as they stop the menu and fast forward buttons from working . Surely the only people who see them are ones who have paid for the dvd, as downloads don't have adverts, it's totally backwards.

And for the people saying you don't pay a penny to ITV, while this is technically true, you aren't allowed to watch it without a TV lisence, so you do have to pay to watch it. Just ITV doesn't see any of the money.

Scrubs on ABC and E4.... opening 1 min, opening credits, ad break!

You pay your licence fee for BBC, and tbh, with the current £2bn mess there in, I can see the BBC either going bust or becoming commercial before long, so then the licence would go.

anti piracy adds make me want to pirate more, they pee me off so much tha i'd rather have a version without :o

Lost on Sky One lasted 1 hour.

Lost with adverts deleted = 39 mins.

I never watch live tv (apart from sporting events) everything gets taped.

If I had watched lost on Sky I'd have wasted around 8 hours of my life watching ads. Not really worth it.

The worst are the reality shows you know the ones with the recaps....

Start - 10 mins advert 16 - mins (3 min recap of 1st 10 mins) 19 - 28 mins 2nd part 33 mins 5 min recap of 1st two parts. etc etc.

Take out the recaps and ads and you have around 25 mins of new footage per hour.

I've got one of the programs by slysoft (not sure if I can say which one, so I won't), and when you stick a DVD in your drive and play it, it automatically removes all the trailers, anti-piracy junk, and all the othe fluff they stick on them now.

I'd just like to echo other peoples sentiments that these anti-piracy methods are counter-intuative. The only people that are going to see them are people who have gone out and bought the DVDs. The pirated versions have it removed anyway, so its just the people who buy it legally that suffer.

like somone has said it's not as bad as american tv, like if you had watched abc while it was shown the adverts were unbelievable its no wonder programs out in usa fail oftn as the program has to be freaking great to make up for the adverts.

i hate how they put an advert 20 seconds before the end of the program right before the episode gets concluded and then show the next episode and put another advert within minutes of showing it.

i find the best thing to do whist adverts are on are entertain yourself with them by playing advert game in which you and whoever you watch them with has to guess the advert first before the product is said on tv. of course this only works with more then 1 person but always makes advrts feel quicker
