Me and a mate were out using his RC boat at the lake (Its a big bloody Big lake) and something has gone wrong with the boat reciever and it went at full throttle and no steering straight out of site into the middle of the lake!
We are going looking for it tomorrow so it even if we do find it washed up its going to take ages.

My mate is absolutely ****** because all up its cost him $800!

We already had a second boat on order so im wondering if there is any Cheap GPS tracking systems for RC boats ot planes so you can put it in the boat and see it on a GPS or something? Just incase we lose another one. Atleast this way we will know where it will have gone if we hae one so it will be easyer to find again.

Thanks:)

Gp will be to much, but if you go or look on a model website, under the rocket section. They have transmitters.

You then have a hand held device, which has a bleep, nearer you get the faster the bleep. Much cheaper and should be good enough to find a boat.

And just look for the mushroom cloud, that's where your boat was ;)

Correct. Great for finding rockets that the wind or a bad launch has sent off in to the next county! :D

Oh isn't $800 AUS only about £50? :p

why don't you tie a float to the back of the boat with fishing wire or thin cord, then run a length of it, so if the boat sinks, the float will pop up telling you where to go with your snorkel.

A GPS transmitter wouldn't work under water anyway due to the signal being attenuated so much.

it's not for a sunk boat, it's for a boat gets lost, a fail safe wont stop a boat getting lost, it simply switches it off. It will then float in which ever way the waves/wind is blowing.

if a lake is really 100km then you would need a gps tracker, but there not cheap.
