I upgraded to the 20meg service yesterday and the MAXIMUM download speeds are exactly the same as when i was on 4meg, (~500kb/s), i presumed 20meg would mean around 2.5mb/s?

What time of the day did you try downloading would be my thing as it seems most are capped between the 4pm-12 crap they got going.

Check the modem logs to see if a new config file has actually been loaded.

http://192.168.100.1/

Look for a logs section and you should see an entry along the lines of "SW Download INIT - Via Config file cm-20480-768" if the upgrade has actually taken place.

At least that's what to look for with the Motorola modem we have. Might be different depending on your make and model.

it says ntl:home
broadband internet

we've had it since NTL went broadband 5/6 years ago, i think it's called ambit or something

Usually the default username/pass for the modem is root and root. On my NTL250 and VM255 models it actually says "Factory default username/password is "root" under the Login link :)

It looks like your still on 4MB. Did you order yesterday or was it meant to be activated yesterday? Because activation can take 1 - 2 weeks

if you are stil on the old modem from 5/6 years ago you probally need their new modem because i know i did :)

call up customer servcies and say you have been told you need a new modem and a instalation and they will come and install one for you :)

mine took about 24 hour to activate as well :)

ok speedtest.net i record about 19.6mbs most of the time and about 725kbps upload

The engineer will dump a new modem at your house and you need to phone up CS to get the MAC registered. Make sure they read it back to you 3 or 4 times to confirm it's correct. The person I spoke to must have had typing difficulties resulting in no Internet for a day.
