I can get 2GB DDR2 1066MHZ PC8500 Dual Channel Kit for £55, but they are a no make manufacturer, in house special sort of thing, would this be better than paying the same kind of price for 2GB PC6400 made by GeiL or Corsair, or any other branded name.

Basically does the name make much difference and would the cheap brand PC8500 be faster & a better buy?

Cheers.

Is it this?

I have it and it runs fine. But you lose the life-time warranty that the brand-named memory gives you.

But it will only really be of benefit if your FSB needs the faster memory to run 1:1.

Aye mate, thats it.

I'm not too sure what you mean by that, its for a Q6600 on a P35 DS3R mobo.

It's overkill for a Q6600 unless you're looking to run it at well over 4ghz.

The PC6400 Geil and OCZ Platinum will be more than enough, plus you get the life-time warranty.

I don't plan to overclock it at all, so i think i'll go with the GeiL.

I think i'm about sorted, shame i'm having to go for a new PSU though. :(
