Just looking at power supplies for an upgrade, obviously there are good uns like the corsair 520 and 620's, and the ones to genreally avoid like Hipers etc, one ive not really read much on are the OCZ ones, they seem good priced for 600-700w ones, but are they like hipers?

I'm running a 520W Modstream and have had no real issues, apart from it not really having enough juice for my rig so occasionally it will shutoff if I load everything up. As in max the cores and the GPU.

I put that down to having a relatively weak 12V rail for a 520W PSU and it only having the single 12V rail.

When funds alllow I will be upgrading to another OCZ though, I trust them completely and will just get a more powerfull model.

For PSU's and memory I will always go with OCZ from now on, they have a cracking warranty service also, and some of the best support in the business. Check out there forum for examples.

ok thanks, may go for the 600w one when its back in stock then, are they ok for overclocking? Or powering this rig:

p35 board
q6600 oc'ed
8800gts 640
2 hardrives etc

or would i be best getting a corsair 520w?

I'm using the 600watt GameXstream with a Gigabyte P35 DS3R, E6600 @ 3.6gig, 2gigs of RAM, 7950GX2 (also OC'd), quite a lot of HDDs and a ton of fans including dual 250mm and it doesn't even break a sweat.

Its not the quietest PSU ever but neither is it untolerably noisey and seems very reliable and the air coming out the back of it is never more than very slightly warm so it seems to run pretty cool too.

So in conclusion :P they might not be the prestigious power supplies ever but they will do the job and unlikely to let you down.

Just had a 3 month old 700w GameXstream die. Not happy at all. Reading through some reviews i would never get another. In fact i got a refund for this one. Going to get an Antec Truepower Quattro 850w now.

They have amazing support, i lost the pci-e cable and emailed them about where to purchase one, they said they would send me out a catalogue, and 2 days later (from Amsterdam) i got a cable in the post :D cant be beaten!

I have a 600w OCZ GameXtream powering a Q6600 @3.3GHz, 4 x 1GB ballistix, 6 HDDs, ATI Radeon 2900 Pro and a few other bit and pieces for the last year, and it has not missed a beat....very good PSU! ;)

Good quality, A-Star customer service, you cant go wrong. I also have a 600w StealthXtreme, would defo recommend it to anyone in need of a PSU. :)
