been putting off upgrading mainly due to lack of cash :( but the northbridge fan on my msi neo4 platinum is on its last legs bought a zalman replacement it wont fit graphics card is the way so decided to get a E2160/E2180 :D but what board? am looking at a budget build so upto about £80

msi neo 2 f

Abit IP35

Gigabyte ds3r

will be looking to overclock it bit ;) anyone used any of the above or suggest something else more satas the better !

thanks

Not the MSI. The IP35 is good (but it's the Pro that's the really good Abit board) and the P35-DS3r is a fine motherboard (although I would take the time, effort and cash to seek out a Rev 1.0 P35-DS4 for it's massively better chipset cooling).

thanks for the info :) is it worth paying the extra for the ip35 pro ? its about £40 over budget?

Would say that the DS4 may well be best mix of budget/spec....the Pro @ +£40 is quite a stretch.....albeit a good board, by all accounts

I'd spend a little more and get the Gigabyte P35-DS4 Rev 1.0 - it's probably the P35 sweetspot between performance and cost. The IP35-Pro is a better motherboard, but it's not worth the extra money in my opinion unless you absolutely need to wring the very last 20 or 30 MGHz out of your CPU.
