Anyone using 2x1GB/2x512MB (3GB) config?

Just wondering if this would work correctly in dual channel and if anyone else is using this type of setup?

I use Windows XP with x86 so don't really want to buy 4GB when allot of it will go unused plus will only be able to use 3.5GB anyway.

In theory it should work in dual-channel providing there's 1gb and 512mb in each of the two channels.

Which motherboard?

P965 or P35 version?

But both chipsets are very good with memory and I would expect it to run fine.

965p version, could you recommend any 2x512MB kits that will do around 425Mhz(850)/4.4.4.10?

G-Skill 2x1GB 6400 HZ 4.4.4.12.

You'll be needing some Micron D9 based memory then. The Crucial Ballistix PC5300 will run fine with your G.Skill HZ at 850mhz 4-4-4-10. It's also the only decent priced 2x512mb D9 kit.
