Abit IP35 Pro Bios Error

Ok guys, I powered off, removed my motherboard power cable. Took out the battery and left it over night. I came down to it put in the battery and realised I hadn't reset cmos:rolleyes: ( I have only done it 8 million times now lol) So I reset with battery in for a few minutes. Powered up same problem (Well slightly different because now I always get a cmos checksum error, not the original bios checksum error). Thanks for all your help, could you remind me step by step and tell it like I am a 5 year old;) what I need to do again. I also have a spare battery sitting in my Asus mobo that has been out of the case for a good few days, could I try that. What does the battery do, and how come when I booted without it I could change settings in the bios, reboot, restart windows no problem? Lastly (I think) I can only flash from windows at this moment in time unless I flash with cmos battery out(If that's even Possible) because My A drive hasn't showed since build, and I cannot alter my boot devices to boot from a pen drive because the bios won't save. If I do try to boot from a pen drive I would need a little more guidance, but I will do:)
Thanks. Oh and if Nelly gets to read this he could maybe add it to the growing list on Abit forums of people with a similar problem. My Seasonic has been rock steady for me for a good while, but obviously I cannot rule it out, but there maybe something on this Abit board it doesn't like.
Re windows flashing, I always flashed my Asus A8N Deluxe from within windows, never had a problem, did it half a dozen times.(Maybe I had a lucky run).

Update. Progress is being made me thinks :D I noticed on post that it would hold at code C1 on the mobo, this relates to memory. I pulled three of my sticks and left 1 in slot one. Booted into bios, loaded optimal defaults and biiinnngooo I am in windows:) So now I have to figure out which stick of ram is faulty problem. Back soon. Any tips are welcome. Will I have to Memtest each stick? They passed a 7 cycle run yesterday with flying colours. Although it was a memory adjustment that kick started my problems.

Bony,

Stupid question, have you set the mem voltage to at least 2.1v in the bios? It defaults to 1.8v which can cause some problems for a lot of mem, even more so as your running with 4 sticks.

Yes m8, it was set at 2.1, I am actually in windows(obviously typing this :)) I have it set at 2.0 , at the moment with 2 gig of ram in the board. My cpu is back up to 3.2Ghz, 3.4 was my best with temps I was happy to run with, so I'll up that later. I still haven't put my sound or wifi cards back in. I think I'll try with the 4 gig of ram and see how it goes. Again thanks for you help. I'll post back soon.

Update: All back up to 3.4Ghz. 4 gig of ram back in 4,4,412 @ 2.1 v. All pci cards fitted. Happy days. I'll rerun Memtest86+ tomorrow, but I am sure my ram is fine. As said I think when I tried to save my bios settings it corrupted and reset to defaults which includes 1.8v DDR2. This isn't enough juice for 4 sticks of ram that run@ 2.1. Booting with 1 stick of ram got me back in the game.
