PS3 Want to purchase.

you obviously dont know anything

first of all you can upgrade the hard drive with any normal laptop hard drive and have up to 250GB of space so the size of HD is totally not a factor especcially when the 360 only has 9GB or something
You can get the 120GB harddrive for the xbox360 as well...

second of all the new ps3's with the smaller hard drives have newer processors in them than the old ps3's they are smaller, run cooler. and use less power, i think up to 40% less power or something i believe, so the 40GB ps3's are a lot better
Sony has meant to of Confirmed that the 40GB PS3s Don't Use new 65nm Chips

i think the 40Gb has everything going for it especcially since its a lot cheaper and it has all the things a new gamer wouldnt need removed from it

and if you find out 40GB aint enough you could always upgrade in the future, personally i dont see the need of 10GB never mind 40GB

The main reason people are avoiding the 40gb version, Is the lack of its ability to play PS2 and PS1 games. Maybe that doesn't matter to you, and you are happy to have a PS2 set up as well as your PS3 set up. But I'm not.

I want a 60gb console, because its superior. Yes the PS3 gives out a lot of heat, but its coping with it. So the lower heat output of the 40gb version, although a step in the right direction, Isnt enough for me to drop the Backwards compatibility, Extra 20gb, Extra Memory Format Ports and extra USBs.

40gb version of the console is for someone who knows what's been taken out, and knows he's happy without them. That seems to be you. But I know a lot of people who aren't in your boat. :p

Your comments seem to be more opinon based than fact based. I love the PS3, But I know for a fact that it's not producing games of the same quality as the 360. YET

I think thats Sony's marketing campaign talking, so far we have seen nothing to convince us that the PS3 is actually technically superior.

I dont think he meant the power behind them, but more like reliability, noise levels and being built all into one package which I agree with, but those are not reasons I would buy a PS3 over a 360 if I was given the choice. I base my decision on the games, which is how it should be done.

The PS3 build quality is leaps and bounds ahead of the 360, Which is to be expected from Sony, Their Hardware has always been solid as a rock.

But as you said, Its not always down to build quality, Game quality is what sells a console. Which is why i've chosen 360.

That said, I cant wait to see some of the amazing games for the PS3, that are scheduled.

Technical superiority would indicate to me that he meant it was more powerful, build quality would cover the other points.

This has turned into another silly thread.

To the OP - Get a 60GB PS3 if only for the Backwards Compatability, the PS2's back catalogue absolutely destroy's any of the current gen's line-up ;)

Theres also plenty (yes you heard it right - PLENTY) of PS3 games to be getting stuck into...

Out Now:

Tekken [From PSN]
Warhawk [From PSN]
Super Stardust HD [From PSN]
DiRT
Formula One
Heavenly Sword
Motorstorm
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
Rainbow Six Vegas
Ratchet and Clank
Resistance: Fall of Man
Sega Rally
The Darkness
Oblivion
Eye of Judgement

Out Before Xmas:

CoD4
Haze
Kane and Lynch
Army of Two [Think its been put back to next year not sure]
Lair
Simpsons
Lego StarWars
Assassins Creed
Stranglehold
Medal of Honor
Uncharted

There is obviouly loads more titles but these are the cream of the crop.

Please quit the "PS3 has no games" thing its getting very tiresome.

Edit: I should also mention i'm not some kind of PS3 fanboy, I used to own a 360 but I sold it (will probably be getting another after xmas but I prefer the PS3) - Dreamcast forever!

Also i've highlighted the PS3 Exclusives in yellow.

I think people are saying there isn't as many exclusives on the PS3 or anything coming from the PS3 which is new. It's like devs are just putting there game on the PS3 for the sake of it on another console. That's what is putting me off buying one. While the PS3 has its exclusives it's just not enough. Making a FPS or any other genre and making exclusive doesn't make that game unique. The only games which show this are Ratchet and Clank and Eye of Judgement.

Also I too am Dreamcast forever!

I think the OP just wasn't aware of what console offers what and was considering the PS3 as that's the newest console so must be the best. As time goes on though we will see more coming from the PS3 and we wont be able to have this argument. It will come down to the different genres of games. If you want FPS go 360, if you want (going to take a guess) platformers go PS3.

You lost the credibility when you said Lair Ino :p

But the same could be said for the 360

The way I see it is these forums are very one-sided at times, imagine an "I want to buy a 360" thread, If I walked in on that and said "No no no you don't want a 360 they're rubbish they overheat like crazy, can't play Hi-Def movies or do Wireless out of the box" I'd get jumped on from a great height, yet its ok for that to happen to a PS3 thread?

All a bit silly imo.

I seem to remember reading that Haze wasnt going to be PS3 exclusive as well.

Its kinda is and isnt , Ubisoft first said it was a PS3 exclusive, then it was a timed exclusive till next year sometime, now it seems its the there are no other version being developed at present. Could mean anything lol, so at the moment i think we'll call it a time dexclusive but may end up being an exclusive depending on sales etc.

In which case, wouldn't he do better to buy a PS2 for now and wait till he's more certain about what current gen console to get?
Personally I wouldn't buy a new console unless I was certain it was what I really wanted. In the past I've made that mistake and it just turns into a waste of money. It's too large a purchase to be slightly unsure about so if the OP is, I'd suggest he gets a PS2 to keep me busy till he's certain.
