Golf owners opinion =

I look at a mk5 1.4/1.6/GTI and even the mk5 R32 and its just "a golf".

I look at the R32 Mk4 as a beast

Likewise, i really do like the Mk4 R32's especially Wayn0rs? off here i think thats his name :p

Nice going mate, whilst i've never really been a Golf fan, and am not that keen on the way the MK4 looks, even as an R32, you got the car that YOU wanted, and am happy you're happy :D

The best R32 I have seen (in pictures) is Wayn0r's... I really want to ride shotgun in it!

If I could get insurance on an R32, I would get it in that colour and do pretty much the same mods.

Doesn't matter how many cylinders its got, £15k for a Golf replaced by a new model over 3 years ago is mental. I know this is how much R32's are worth but jeez it takes fanboy dedication to actually part with that much money for it.

I mean it looks smart... but..

Its the same as a Focus RS, limited run of a car that got good reviews etc means they are in a lot of demand and the mint ones hold there value better than the lesser models of the time. I suspect it will be like the Escort Cosworth where they have remained at a great premium for a clean one even 10-13 years on. My friends got one (Escort Cosworth) and it isn't even that quick compared to todays hot hatches but give it another 2 or 3 years and it will still be worth more than them.

Looks good.

Agree with comments about price but they are an excellent car, I looked at 1 not so long ago but the mrs talked me out of it!

I actually prefer that R32 shape and sound compared to the new one. I'd also have this one over the new Mk5 GTI - so I completely understand your purchase, albeit a little over the odds price wise... That looks awesome - they sound fantastic too.

I've always found the Mk4 R32 to be the most handsome Golf, lovely looking machine and a completely different animal to the rest of the line. Nice buy.

After a conversation with Fox on MSN about these cars, I've got to say a few things.
Firstly, I love them.
Secondly, I do agree with Fox's opinion (not neccessarily the way he phrases it though), they are overpriced.

I'm considering getting one of these myself in a couple of years time and I would be looking to spend around £8-10k on one then. I love the sound, the look and the presence they have and after being in a Mk5 R32, these Mk4's are head and shoulders above them.

This one looks like a lovely example and I hope you enjoy it :D

Looks good, though I must admit that's not a colour I would have chosen.

Could you share with us your motivation to part with a staggering £15,000 to buy a 4 year old, discontinued old shape Volkswagen Golf when similar money could have got you a current GTi?

I can't speak for the OP, but I'd personally plump for an mk4 R32 over a mk5 GTi for several reasons - they're more powerful, quicker, look a lot better, and are 4wd rather than fwd.

Cue arguement about Haldex and whether its true 4wd or simply FWD with bells on.. ;)

Lets just leave that to previous threads and the lovely search button eh? :)

That is stunning mate, id buy one if i could afford the price tag ! lol. I settled for something abit lower down the class tho !

It's an awful lot of money, but if you got what you want, congratulations. It's a handsome machine.

Can you do anything about the orange indicators in the headlight units? Would look so much better if they were clear.

gotta say i'm not a fan of the golf, i think the focus is a considerably better car for the money. but that is as has been said only my opinion, so if this fella is chuffed to bits with his purchase then share in his joy, it's a dam sight better than most peoples cars, overpriced or not:)

hope you enjoy it mate:)
