Doesn't half pay to phone up and have a good grumble sometimes :)

Was paying £35 p/m for 2mb broadband and phone package with free calls. Wanted a faster servise so phoned for 8mb, only to be told they don't do it anymore. So they offered 4mb and phone for £42.

As you can imagine I wasn't very happy with that offer, I've been a loyal cable customer for over 10 years, blah, blah..... asked to speak to someone.

Got the top end phone package and 20mb broadband for £30 a month which I think's much more reasonable :)

why does it say £15 in the title then :p
Because the phone package is half of the price?

It's the top end phone package which is worth well over £15 on it's own.

EDIT - Just looked it up £18.95 for phone, so could say 20mb broadband for £11 ;)

ok, ive never had cable so i dont know

can you sign up to just the net or do you have to have the phone as well?
I don't have to have the phone no. It's weird how they do it though, I have 2 seperate accounts, one for TV + Phone and another for Broadband, they treat them like two totally different companies. Pain in the ass tbh, especially when there are problems as each department doesn't talk to each other :(

Cool, I always had cause to complain with NTL/Virgin BB

I have 10mb free for 6 months and 20mb free for 3 months

BUT the connection got so pants and they couldn't fix it so I left :(

I was a loyal Telewest customer for years, but since Virgin took over, the service was so bad that even for £20pm for life, I'd have left.

I'm now with Sky Max, getting 1.4mb download speed for £10 per month and apart from speed drops, which I will sort out, I'm pretty darn happy.:)

Varies from time to time for me, usually when the Glasgow UBR is overloaded (iirc there were two at one point, Broomhill and Renfrew). It was very poor for me until VM did UBR work in the last couple of months and it's been fine again. Then again I got a new cable modem as well so it might've just been that my old 3100 was dying. The main reason I stuck with VM was the price of a new BT line is now about ~£130.

For the people getting special deals, do VM insist on giving you a new 12-month contract? There's been a few grumbles about that on another forum recently.

No 12 month contract. Infact I actually asked about that when I was "discussing" with them my displeasure of their offer ;) As I was telling them I wasn't entering any contract as I'd be leaving within the month becasue the pricing of their broadband was a little expensive in my opinion... or something to that effect.
