Comment on my spec pleeease

that's a very nice spec

a few questions...
what's your budget?
will you be overclocking?
and what will you be using the computer for?

i would maybe go for the WD 500AAK hdd

not sure about the mobo, by the time ddr3 comes in there will be better mobos about so i'd maybe not go for that, i know these are good:

anyone else agree?

EDIT: welcome to the forums man :D;)

If you want a dual core, then by all means go for the E6750 , but for the sake of £50 the Q6600 is horrendously popular, and for good reason.

I'd be tempted to switch the board for an Abit P35, or a Gigabyte DS4...just personal preference if you wanted to OC either of the processors mentioned.

Maybe change the case fan to a Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000.

Apart from that it looks good.

Thanks!

Budget is around 900ish, give or take a few.

Overclocking, yeah.. I've never done it before, and wanted to give it a go. PC will mainly be used for Photo editing and gaming, hence the S-IPS monitor. Had a TN panel monitor and it just didn't cut it :)

Is Quadcore worth getting over dual core then? I've read places that it's not at the moment, and other places that it is. I'll be running XP pro, if that's any use.

it's a nice monitor....i have one :p

if you have any concerns about overclocking there is a whole section for it with plenty of guides so ask away :D

as said above quad core isn't far of or you could go for like a e2180, apparently they o/c well

EDIT: i'm not sure if you would see a major difference between dual and quad, i'm sticking with dual for a wee bit yet...

To be honest I can't really tell much difference between motherboards.. I need firewire ports, and was thinking of DDR3 for upgradability but if it's not gonna be useful then I can go for another. Recommendations welcome.. Also an explanation as to why you chose it would be helpful too :)

From a thread in the motherboard forum, I've been recommended abit IP35, Asus P5K and Gigabyte P35-DS3P. Which should I get out of them? My mate just got a Pk5-E, but I don't need wifi. Which is the best for overclocking, and are there any that have any known problems?

Also, would anyone recommend a cpu cooler? Or don't I need one with that case + extra fan?

I think I'll just stick to dual core for the moment, not looking to upgrade to Vista just yet.

Is the GA-P35-DS3P on overclockers revision 1 or 2? I can't work out. I also can't decide which motherboard to get overall, I keep finding reviews for and against all boards. Essentially I guess it comes down to:

Firewire
Number of USB ports
Overclocking potential

And of course reliability
