N73 Joystick woes

Has anyone managed to break off their n73 joystick?

Mine fell between my bed and desk last night and it's popped out and i cant get it to fit back in :eek:

Anyone got any installation tips?
 
yea mine falls out all the time, very annoyin

although it just clips back in...luckily should be getting upgrade next week

edit// actually it doesnt 'clip' back in...doesnt do anything...just goes in...no wonder it keeps falling out...lol
 
Sent mine off for repair when I lost the joystick.
N73 - worst phone I've ever owned. Will never buy another N series.

N73 isnt that good a phone - they have improved a lot recently tho (the N series) - the N82 looks great.

mine clicks back on, have a go at cleaning the inside of it with a needle or something...?
 
Change the product code using NSS to the Euro music edition, then flash the firmware (take a backup first to memory card/pc). It's much more stable, but beware you will lose a lot of operator specific customisations and Snake!

It's still slow as a dog going in/out of camera mode mind... :rolleyes:

Back to OP, my mate's nipple fell off after about 2 days of owning it and mine is all loose and wibbly. Inherently bad design IMO, can't wait for my upgrade either!
 
A local phone shop, wants 35 quid to fix it for me butI've managed to get it back in place. He said it needs a new board/keypad as it's part of it.

I've just looked at a brand new n73 in the 02 shop and it's still a bit raised compared to the original.

I'm going to phone 02 and see if they can do anything for me now

You do realise you can buy new keypads and swap it out yourself?
 
Yeah when I had an n73, it went all stiff & was bound to fall off one day. So I went on the bay and bought a new N73 Membrane. Installed it no problemo.
Theres a few guides on google.

Edit: there only going for around £18 too (or was around 2 month ago). Thats the keypad membrane/joystick.

And Pike, I did nothing to my phone, only because your is fine, doesnt meen other peoples are. Its very common for joystick phones to go **** up.

Well o2 said it's covered under warrenty, so it's going back and a new one is going to be sent out.

I'm quite tempted to put the new one on the bay and use my old k750i battlebus until it's upgrade time

Edit: Is there a way to put the phone back to the factory default?
 
I cant remember off the top of my head, as I dont have an n73 anymore..

But I think these were the codes I use to use:

*#7370# or *#7780#

buy one off of ebay if its not under warranty?

I wasnt very technicle minded with phones, but I did mine easy enough, only took like 10minutes on a first attempt of opening the phone for the very first time
 
called 3 today, told them it had fallen off and i dont have it anymore (i do have it but wana get it fixed so can sell the phone when i get my upgrade)

got them picking up the phone on Thursday. They tried to say i would be charged £29.99 because i dont have the stick anymore LOL for them to put it back in, I insisted there was no way I was doing that, the n73 has standard 2 years warranty! after a little while he said 'oh yes it seems like a common problem, you wont be charged'
