Does anyone know of any large Photography studios (Multi studio with rental facilities, drive in studios etc) in the UK? Im jobhunting and could do with finding as many of these types of studios as possible. So far Ive found;

http://www.sunbeamstudios.com/
and
http://www.jasminestudios.com/

Any more of this type of thing would be ideal. Im not too bothered about location at this stage, but Manchester/Newcastle/London would be preferred.

:)

There don't seem to be a great deal of them around. There are lots of smaller shops that do stuff like family shoots and freelancers. I spent a LONG time looking into this to try and get some sort of work, (even for free so I could learn something!) and got nowhere after about 4 months solid of searching.

Now I'm a civil servant with not enough cash to buy new stuff

Good luck with the job hunting Messiah :)
I'm sure you'll have no problem getting one.

I was on job seekers for awhile, really hard trying to find a Graphic Design Job, or Photography one in my local area. (not many if any turn up)

I went to my first interview last week.
was with Thomas Cook - Photography Executive
Get do deal with all the travel/apartment photo's, enhance, organize,..
and even go on shoots.
(looking forward too that aspect, and hopefully can proove able to take the photo's)

they phoned back that afternoon letting me know I had the job if I wanted it.
The thing that get me it was my online portfolio, and technical skills. so again, no problem there for you.

You sent out emails and cv's to those places?

My friend was working at Venture in Peterborough.
he said its hard work, but wasn't too bad.
I remember telling you that, Though not sure how you get into there.

Think just a phone call or email asking if any jobs around best bet.

I forgot to add, it depends on your age. If you're 21 or under you've got a better chance of getting a job. Most places I got turned down by, wanted a teenager that has their own transport and will basically shuttle anything they want so they don't have to pay for it.

Basically you'll get treated as a runner by most companies, which in itself isn't bad as you get to learn while you work, but a lot really take the proverbial and expect the earth for minimum wage and treat you like dirt.

Try getting in touch with other photographers that are actually setting up themselves as a business. Maybe a couple of years doing that would set you in good stead.

Yeah, im going to be applying to them eventually, but I still want to build up more of a portfolio (especially portrait work) before applying to them. Would probably go for the Digitial Artist vacancy.

Congratulations on the new job. :) Yeah, ive applied to the two I posted. Both as Studio Assistant. I would really love either of those jobs as they sound ideal (depending on pay of course).

Im 25, so im not too old, but not a teenager either. The problem as you say, they seem to want youth for minimum pay, but also several years experience. I don't really want to work as a photographer at this stage, and would much prefer one of the photography fringe jobs, ie ; Assistant, photography admin or digital artist etc. A large studio would also give me a lot more opportunities. Lets hope I hear back from one of the ones ive applied to so far. :)

yeah im looking forward to working there.
Im happy its photography, as I prefer this more than Graphic Design.

They have all New Nikon D80's, tons of euipment.
So going to have to get use to those over me cannon 400d.

Also... there working on the new Intel Mac's... bugger
(I used mac's in college but hated them, hopefully Apple have learnt and made good ones now)

The portfolio got me my Job.
I dont think you need any more photo's if anymore. you'll have no problem getting into Venture. ;)
