Hi,

I'm serioulsy considering moving from ADSL24 to BE*, as my exchange has just been enabled by BE*. Does anyone know roughly how long I will be without any connection at all? Is it normally a fairly seamless transfer or am I going to be without an ISP for a few days??

Thanks.

Email from Be (migrating from Zen) says less than half an hour.

When I went from F2s to Zen it was pretty much instant.

As Tolien has touched on when migrating to a LLU supplier the migration involves an "engineer" connecting the line to the new DSLAM so there'll be some (albeit normally minimal) downtime.

O.K, thanks guys, it sounds like its going to be a matter of hours rather than days so thats good news. I had a feeling it would be quick but I havent actually migrated before so wasnt sure.

Oxy - I honestly could not recommend ADSL24 highly enough. The service is excellent, never had any connection problems and speed has been consistently 8 meg. Their support is also very good. Cheap prices, generous download limits and no contract. The only reason I am going to leave them is that my local exchange has just been enabled by BE* and the lure of 24 meg is just too strong:D I share my connection with 3 housemates so the extra 16 meg will make a real difference.

slightly misleading that. speeds aren't always 8mb. :p

when it gets busy, speeds can drop down to 2mb. these busy periods can quite often last all day at the weekends and for a few hours after 10pm weekdays.

Speed for me isnt an issue as I can only get between 1.5 meg and 2.5 meg lol.

Im more interested in having a good connection over than the speed of it. I mean when I was on pipex torrents were slow (free legal torrents like linux distros and apps :P) and games were unplayable. Zen has been magnificent. However, there 50 GB limit means I have to not use the internet so much or pay through the nose for extra bandwith each month and its getting expensive!

I also like the idea that I can turn off interleaving via a control panel with adsl24!!

Think Im gonna switch to them, you have convinced me! ADSL24 dont limit ** download speeds after x amount of gigabyte usage? Is there unlimited 2 meg package genuine?

Regards

Oxy

I have been with ADSL24 for 3 months and they are very very good. My connection has been constant with (I think) 1 dropout in that time.

Only reason I'm moving to be is slightly cheaper and better up and down speeds I should get. Also as mentioned before the speeds at 10pm can drop to 2meg which is annoying as thats when the off peak starts so the pipes get hammered.

Migrate this coming Monday so fingers crossed :)

O.K, fair point, didnt really mean its 8 meg constantly, just that the connection is always solid and fast enough:)

Oxy - Glad your convinced, you definitely wont regret going with them. Good luck with it.

Can anyone on *Be* answer this for me please?

If I wanted to move from unlimited to pro do I have to wait a month or is it instant?
