Hey there

Well my PC kinda sucks for playing newer games and my main PC (the one my family uses but my sister is getting a laptop soon) is a HP Pavilion with an AMD Athlon 64 3.2GHz CPU, 1GB Ram (2x 512MB sticks) and built-in ATI graphics. If upgraded and bought a PCI-E 8800GT and got 2x 1GB sticks of DDR Ram would I be able to play games such as Stalker, CoD4, Unreal Tournament 3, Hellgate: London, Crysis, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Battlefield 2142, Oblivion and all of these relatively new games on high settings? If not high settings, what type of graphical settings do you think I would be able to run them on and how well would they run in terms of FPS?

Thanks for your help and time.

tbh, if your looking at DDR ram which is expensive, you'd be better of getting a new ddr2 mobo, and a low end c2d, and the rest of stufff that you mentioned, whats ** budget?

I don't really know at the minute as it was just something I was thinking about doing. Another thing I was gonna try and do was buy a new DDR2 Mobo, a cheap(ish) Intel Core2Duo and an 8800GT/8600GTS and 2GB DDR2 Ram and am basically wondering how much that would set me back in terms of the games I want to play and on the type of settings.

Really to awnser the question of settings and alike we need to know what res. your panel runs at? 1280-1024, 1680-1050?

Also, I'm planning on using the same hard drive/optical drive that is on my current PC. I was looking at something like this:

Then I don't know what graphics card to buy tbh lol, and I know a need a cooling system for the cpu and probably a new psu.

cpu comes with a cooler, unless you want to oc then it will be fine, what psu do you have?

and I'd get a 8800GT if you can afford it, then with the cpu OC'ed or even without you should be able to play the latest games at more or less full settings.
