I recently became aware of a service called "verified by visa" after trying to purchase some parts for my system upgrade from overclockers, to no avail.
I was stopped and had to enter a verified by visa password & such to allow my purchase to go through, i even tried the "carry on without using vbv service" but that didn't work so i had to call them up & listen to a 20minute loop of opera music & a voice saying the same old poo they always do.

5 days & 3 phone calls later i still can't purchase what i want & to make thingz worse the items i wanted were on offer & now they have gone back up in price , i am absolutely fuming with Abbey for this as this isn't my fault & all i wanted to do was use my card online to make a simple transaction.

I guess it's a good thing that this service is in place because it stops criminals from stealing ya money but on the other hand waiting 20+ minutes to speak to someone about it 3 days in a row is a complete joke.
The service should be more efficient & should be similar to the e-banking service where you set ya own PW & have total control over it yourself.

thank you abbey for costing me about £10 & thank you abbey for costing me even more for the phone calls!

Umm When that happened to me I entered my username and password and it let me proceed? BTW I chose the username and password the first time it popped up.

ye there was a choice to choose a password & i did, about 5 times but it wuldn't let me through!

Abbey are currently having probz with this & are resetting all the passwords "apparently"
the guy said the nu pw i have will work tomoz! *a pig just flew passed my window*

...

Call their freephone number instead if you've been paying for calls...

well there aint much point in ringing them again now becoz it takes a day to reset the pw & i've already rang em today...

i'm hoping that this awesome experience will be over tomorrow
*sense sarcasm... lol

Watch out for Zefan, remove the line between your picture and text in your sig :)

If they haven't got it sorted early tomorrow, give them some more grief on a cheaper call.

I'm definately going to do that if it aint sorted...

I gave the guy quite a bit of grief today that i spoke to & he was "being all nice" so i felt bad... lol

...

Its added security for online purchases.....sounds good to me :s

I agree that it is a good thing but it is an awful experience trying to get it to work...

it took me long enough trying to decide what parts in my pc i wanted to upgrade, now it looks like it's gonna take longer actually ordering them

Well tried my nu pw for visa verification today & to my surprise it worked!

HAHAHA, thank you abbey for sorting it out.

Finally got to order the rest of my nu-pc set-up parts, £10 more expensive than i wanted to pay but oh well... nevamind

It's amazing what a little pestering can do! :)

Nevamind, maybe it only took so long coz the guyz at Abbey neva nu how to decipher what ya iz sayin?!

HSBC stopped a dodgy looking transaction coming out of my account, got a phone call while still in the estate agents who'd just put through the payment, verified it on the phone, and 30 secs later payment was accepted. Wasn't too painful to be honest.
