How much meat do you eat?

Ultimately it comes down to moderation, but also a balanced diet. Eating a lot of red meat isn't inherently wrong, it's the overall balance that matters.

Just to add in on the health grounds side of things. Yesterday I didn't have any meat - by the reckoning of some of posters on here that means I would have had a healthy meal. Yesterday I had 3 packets of crisps the whole day.

if you'd have had 2 more, you'd have hit your 5-a-day.

Exactly - not that healthy 3 packs of crisps is it! ;) :p

Sic - no it has to be 5 different veggies and fruit ;) A potato only counts as one, and even then it's a feeble attempt at veg :p

he might have had onion flavour crisps...but they might be beef and onion, so there's the red meat thing again :/

none, im also a vegi...but the type that eats fish.
Yeah it's a bit odd that they call themselves vegetarians as they aren't technically.
technically the phrase vegetarian has been basterdised anyway....

The original definition of 'vegetarian' was "with or without eggs or dairy products" and that definition is still used by the Vegetarian Society today. However, most vegetarians in India exclude eggs from their diet as did those in the classical Mediterranean lands, such as Pythagoras
But put simply.....id say im a vegi because then people that cook for me will provide something i could eat. What would you cook me if i said i was a pescetarian ?

Save the environment, stop providing a need for cow breeding.

I'm a vegetarian and there's a different name for people that eat fish; it's not vegetarian. Vegetarians do not eat meat or fish. If you eat fish you can just tell people you don't eat any meat other than fish and it means you aren't lying then.

It really annoys me that some people say they are vegetarians but eat fish, it's just wrong. It only takes an extra 10 seconds to explain what you actually eat rather than having people assume that real vegetarians eat fish.

vegetarians do not eat meat that comes from ANY animal, be that bird, fish, or beast.

piscetariens(sp) are people who exlussively eat vegetables and fish (although many are ignorant as to their name "i'm a veggie. oh, but i eat fish")

If i was in it for morals, then id tend to agree. As it is im allergic to some meat, and just dont like the other stuff.

Saying im a vegetarian simplifies it all down to the stage where they wont serve me meat, stops a massive questioning about how hypocrytical it is to eat fish but not animals too.

If im buying food im looking for a "vegetarian" logo, because that overlaps 99% of my diet, the term for a vegi that dosn't eat meat is a "pescetarian". How often do you see a pescetarian option on the menu ? If anything blame society for effectively labelling me incorrectly.....rather than accuse me of being a liar.

I just worked out I eat several kilos of meat a week!

I'm such a caveman!

Well I have to cover the portions the veggies leave behind! ;)
